Odd knocking noise behind center console area with AC running?

I'm not sure if it has to do with AC, but recently, I've been driving around with no music, windows up, AC on due to the hot weather. Just relaxing.

But I hear this knocking noise that I can't tie to movement of car. It sounds like plastic on plastic knock... knockknock... pretty quiet.

Anyone else have this noise that comes from behind the dashboard towards the middle?

This doesn't happen in my rig but does in my friends. From what we have been able to find is that it is tied to the blower fan for the AC.

If you keep your music off, windows up, and turn AC off does it go away?

This is the case in my buddies ride. We haven't had a chance to take a look at the AC fan to see if it is bearings or something in it going out.

Just a thought but worth a shot.

Thx, bud. This is a starting point. I noticed this AM it made no noise, but I also had the climate on auto with the AC off. It's just this random knocking. Quiet, but I can still hear it.

Look at your AC vents and move them around a little. Mine apparently has a loose spot that makes a slight rattle. moving it to a different position, ever so slightly, makes it go away. Otherwise, compared to my old Avalanche, wrangler, and even odyssey, my T4R is dead quiet.

also, look in your glove box, center console, any where you may have something loose. You'd be amazed at what sounds can come from stuff laying around. Last week, a half empty water bottle was driving me nuts. It was the little ring that holds the cap tight in the store.

You haven't said what year your runner is, but I would have a look at the cabin air filter and while it's out check with a flashlight down in the blower fan (directly under the filter) for leaves and other debris.

I'm having this same issue except it sounds like liquid gurgling behind the area between the center dash and the passenger side. It does not do it all the time but it does do it with the AC/engine off, as long as the ignition is in the "on" position. I'm going to check the cabin air filter.

it's a knocking noise and i checked everything in the passenger area.

i just haven't had time to really focus on it as i've kinda forgotten about it since i usually have the music on.

I got that same noise to but it sounds like liquid with a little knock coming from the drivers side center. ??
