Hey guys, my newly purchased 89 has less than perfect interior, and I was trying to find somewhere online or in NC to purchase stock OE replacement interior door panels and trim parts. Any ideas? Also, everything I have looked up for my year model for things such as switches is showing up wrong. I verified the year model and man. date, and have even cross checked the VIN. The door switches are like none I have seen before on a T4R... they are black and single row on the D/S. Also, I read in another thread that someone has successfully used a 3-way switch to replace the power window switch... If anyone knows how it was done, I would really love to know! Thanks for the wealth of information that is available!

I have been checking junkyards and ebay. There are plentiful parts for the older style doors, and the 2nd gen stuff, but I have not seen a single part for this style. I am hoping I can switch the panels out to an older or newer style that is more common without having to change doors. I have noticed quite a few parts for this year of T4R are more difficult to get because of the transition year.
it look like you could switch out to another door panel from an older first gen. have you though about just taking the panel into an upholster and just recovering it? it only looks like the lower part of the panel is messed up.
the window switch is basically a three way switch, one common , one lead for up and one lead for down. so it would just be a matter of re-wiring and mounting the new switch.
the switch might also just reverse the polarity of the motor? if thats the case then it might not be so simple then just re-wiring.

Unfortunately, the motor is only a two wire, so it doesn't use a common ground. The switch is 5 pole, and reverses polarity on the motor. I have wracked my brain trying to figure out an easy solution to the switch problem, but I haven't come up with one. A 3 pole switch won't work because I can't reverse the ground when I reverse the power. I am probably going to have to measure dimensions on the door and the handle placement comparing the new to the older style. Unfortunately, the guy that owned it before me was a residential electrician, and knew just enough about cars to really tear one up. He tore the panels in several places pulling them out to get to the window motor to check it. The only other thing I have noticed is that most manufacturers use a very similar 5 prong setup for their window motor switch. I am hoping the wiring is routed the same, and I might be able to use a different switch. Thanks for your help!
