OE Tire Replacement

I've got a 2004 TR Sport 2WD and it's time to replace the tires. Done a lot of reading and still wondering best route to go. I'm probably 95% on road around Atlanta. I'm still wheeling around on the OE GrandTreks. I've been looking at a number of tires including the Revo (2), Scorpion ATR, Open Country and LTX A/T2. I'm concerned about the loss of gas mileage and increase in noise. Because the Dunlop's are considered highway all season I'm having a hard time comparing. I realize that if I go with an AT they won't be super quiet or fuel efficient, but does anyone know how they may compare with the OE Dunlops in those areas?

Any of the ones you listed would be a good choice. The Open Country is probably the cheapest. The Revo2 and LTX A/T2 will be the superior tire with great on-road manners. The Scorpion is also well liked and the sleeper tire in the group. I don't think you can go wrong. I'd go for the Revo2 based on how good Revo1's were in the rain, the good looks and how round they were. I have never had a tire that required less attention in terms of balancing. They went on, required almost no weight and stayed balanced forever. My Toyo experience was similar in terms of balance but the didn't offer a 55k-65k life, it was more like 45k-65k.

A 265/70/17 is often cheaper and will fit a stock T4R with no rubbing or issues. The tread contact area is infinitesimally narrower and the O.D. is about an inch bigger.

Appreciate the advice. I was leaning toward the Revo 2 and this helped push me. Put the order in for them on Friday. Now just have to sit and wait for them to come in.

I'm in Atlanta too... Where are you buying? Are you doing the 70 or the 65 series?

I ended up going with the 65 from Discount Tire. In a rush b/c have one tire going down and the rest are about shot. So probably not the best deal I could have gotten, but wanted to get it done quickly.

Very cool... Discount usually runs a prreetty strong deal.

Musta been some big price increases since I bought my Michelin cross terrains.
Current drive out is $1019.
