Oem am-fm cd player malfunction

The CD player is malfunctioning. Most of the time I get an error code #1.
According to the owners manual, Error #1 means the Cd is dirty or damaged.
They are like brand new. I used a cleaner disc on the lens and I cleaned the disks and I still get the error code. Sometimes I am lucky and one or more CD's will play. I think it looks like its hit or miss for the cd's to sit properly in their spaces. Dirt buildup, maybe. Looking for answers.

I would also like to know what brand AM-FM Radio & CD player Toyota used in the 2004 4runner limited. I would like to try to purchase from any source other then the Toyota dealer if I cannot get my player repaired.
My owners manual does not indicate the brand because Toyota put their name on it. Suggestions?

Mine has done it ever since i got it... I took it apart several times and cleaned it out, checked the ejection functions etc... i finally just said "F"-it and bought the GROM audio adapter with Blue tooth etc and plugged into the back of the radio and quit using CDs.

As much as youll pay for a working OE radio

You can spend a bit more by buying a aftermarket HU and have BT, USB and CD functionality.

A local audio repair shop has my player now and I had two choices. A repair will run about the same price as a new install. But with the new install, I lose the 6 disk capability and the steering wheel controls for the player and radio.
So I opted to go for the repair. Thanks.
