OEM Audio Plus 500Q Reference - System Review in a 2019 4Runner

Yep - this got resolved within a few weeks. Been super late posting an update. Sorry about that guys.

Daniel from OEM audio plus was there to help me troubleshoot every step of the way. Eventually sent the AMP back to them to test. They sent it back to me saying everything was working fine. Before fully installing the amp back in, I sanded down the ground that it was connected to and once all was reconnected the system fired back up. Can't say whether they did anything to the amp or if their suggestion to sand down the ground point did the trick, but definitely relieved and glad it all worked out. System is awesome and couldn't be happier with their customer service. Feel free to hit me up if any questions or concerns.

I read somewhere in this thread about the analog mini jack input sounding better than the usb. I looked into a few dedicated portable music players but instead decided to try an AudioQuest Dragonfly Red. Connection to my iPhone X is through an Apple camera connect (usb3). The Dragonfly is a usb dac/headphone amp. It also renders MQA through the Tidal app. I gotta admit this little gizmo sounds very good running through my OEM+ system.

That is not normal. I have HIDs in and LEDS in my high lights and my hem audio plus never had an issue

Has anyone run into issues with their OEM Audio + system not working after installing HID low beams? For some background, I installed their system with no issues. Had it working great for a few weeks. And just recently, I installed the XenonDepot HID Xtreme lights for my low beams, but after reengaging the battery, my system no longer had sound. Anyone experience this or similar issue before?

I wonder it anyone installed OEM+ into a 5th gen SR5 with 3-rd row seats? There is a lot less space for a subwoofer. I never use the 3-rd row seats but had to get this model because of more legroom for the driver. Perhaps the 3rd row seats can be removed and a custom subwoofer can be installed in place?

I have had both one 4Runner with 3rd row with the sub woofer from oem audio plus (much smaller footprint for the woofer) and now one with a non third row 4Runner. I can’t compared side by side as the 3rd row one I did not have the second decorated subwoofer amp like I do now with my non third row 4Runner. But I imagine if you set up both the same with the second dedicated amp they would sound the same.

Ok Gang I’ve got a huge favor to see if anyone can help. I’ve got the reference 500Q system and all has been absolutely wonderful since day one.....2 days ago I had leather seats installed, they had to remove the seats so obviously disconnected wiring from the amp.....all seems to be reconnected properly but I’m hardly getting sound to my speakers, it’s as if there’s no power driving things as before....I can turn volume up to 30 without being too loud while before it would have blown you out of vehicle.....I’m totally crushed, something is just not right....there’s no “umph” to the system as before. Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated, I’ve contacted Daniel at OEM and they’re working on it. Other than checking fuse at battery and umbilical connection to amp I don’t know where else to check. Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions

I have it installed in my 4runner, it sits on the passenger side flush with the well hump and outlets. the only space you lose is the notch on the right hand side of the car. its very clean and sounds amazing.

I notice you mention you got the optional second subwoofer amp. I’m considering ordering a system with a second amp. What’s your opinion of having it?

I live near Chicago illinois and have been on the fence about buying this system. If there is anyone in the Chicago land area that has this system I would really like to check it out.

Thanks!!

How about the JBL replacement version?

I've been trying to find out more about the version OEM Plus makes for the Limited JBL system. Has anyone here installed that version? Specifically, I am concerned that the price is a bit high considering only the subwoofer is replaced. I also wonder how much improvement can there be with just filtering the output to the existing JBL speakers. I'd love to replace everything, but my local audio shop quoted me $2500 and up, due to the necessity of installing a new amp and a DSP to get around the integrated JBL stuff.

I think the new DSP amplifier (under the seat) may be loosing it's settings after being disconnected. Most likely, there is a USB data port on the amp. Have them send you a settings/configuration file and upload it yourself.

Hey, I don't mean to sidetrack this thread but what kind of leather seats have you installed? Was it just seat covers or the whole new seats? Did it come with seat warmers option? Was it a custom job or a mass produced leather seat upgrades?

Katzkin leather, made specifically for the 4Runner, process takes little more than half day, installed by a Katzkin dealer. They’ll need to remove the existing cloth or Softex first. you can do seat heaters as an option if you want. Product is great, looks factory and I think better than Softex, matches door panels perfectly. This, plus the OEM Audio+ upgrade may be the best 2 things I’ve done to my 2018
