OEM Hitch ?? up down?

I have an 2006 (6 Cyl) that I tow a 17 foot CC boat with. The trailer is a EZ Loader with 14 inch wheels The OEM hitch has a tag that says for 6 tongue down and 8's tongue up.

My issue -The trailer sits level with the tongue up -

Should I go with a level trailer or the standard Toyo setup?

I would go with what makes the trailer level.

I don't know why Toyota specified up or down. The V6 and V8 both have the same max tongue weight, 500 lbs.



Was the trialer & boat a package? If so, it should be balanced fairly well. Mine was not, I think it needs to be adjusted. What is the ideal tongue weight?

I think the purpose of the up and down is to level the trailer. So whichever gives you a level trailer is correct.

My boat trailer is dead on 12% at the tongue. The trailer boat where a package new from the marina.
