OEM-looking Auxiliary light

I finally found a pair of auxilliary lamps that look OEM!!
They are PIAA 90 Pro XT.
I had to cut the bumper grille, but the fit was unbelievably accurate. It's as though it was drop-fit designed for the T4R!

Those look great.... I have been looking for some driving lights and I might have to pick some of those up.. Do you think you could post some pictures at night of the beam pattern with and without the headlights on as well?

I paid $330 on a special sale at a car accessory store, but they usually sell for $450 to $500.

They're expensive, but the driving lamp beam is very powerful, which is what I wanted for long-range pencil beam illumination on highways.
The projection lamps, unlike the decorative fog lamps of the T4R, do a decent job.

I figured $330 would be cheaper than paying $500 for a grille guard and $250 for a pair of Hella Rallye 4000.

Besides, I never found a grille guard I liked completely.

Just noticed your signature. I started a thread about the possibility of getting the 3.0 diesel in the US.

How did you get your Japan spec truck? Are there special procedures you had to follow to import it? If so, could you decribe the process? I would be VERY interested. Thank you.

I don't live in the U.S., but I find it ridiculous that the whole world prefers to use Diesel, except the U.S.

Cost-wise, I spend half on fuel than a friend of mine who has the V6 gasoline version of the T4R.

Oh, by the way, the Diesel in my country is sulfur-bloated, and terribly dirty, and my engine works just fine without polluting.

There are four issues why the US is predominately gasoline...

1) The US auto industry standardized on gasoline in the 40's and 50's and they could never justify the cost of retooling because of reason number 2...

2) The petroleum refineries in and around the US make more money refining gasoline (over diesel) because there are extra steps required to remove the contaminates and impurities in diesel (and more money) and because of step 1...

3) The EPA cracked down on diesel in this country because of the airborne particulates (coal and diesel emissions were very high in particulates) which contaminates ground water and surface water whereas gasoline has nearly zero particulate emissions.

4) The ratio of cars to people (of driving age) in the USA is nearly 1:2 but in Europe, Asia, and Latin America, the ratio is more like 1:20.

I think the new diesel is much cleaner and more efficient, but I doubt we will see the changeover in the US any time soon (bio-diesel even has some doubts).

Sorry to hijack the thread...

The lights look nice, but I would love to see the beam pattern. Mounting them low like that would seem like they wouldn't have the reach, but then again, these are driving lights, not off-road lights.

The projection beam (55W) illuminates the near area, while the driving beam (85W) behaves like a pencil beam, giving me the long-range illumination boost I was looking for.

Nice job. I would seriously consider getting these, especially with the dual function (projector & driving) lamps. How did you mount them? Detailed pics up close if you can. Thanks.

They do look great! If I didn't have a brush guard I would get them. The funny part is I've seen those lights for years and never thought they would look that good.

Low? they're barely a few inches lower than the high beams, and they're at the same height as other SUV's.

The driving beam alone (85W=135W according to PIAA) illuminates as well as my high beams.

I tested them on a dark highway for the first time last week, and I'm extremely satisfied with their performance.

Boy am I glad I didn't buy a grille guard to mount lights!

Driving lights are white I assume , are the projector lights/fog's yellow ? Can you run you low beams , high beams , factory fogs , and both PIAA's all at once .

Looks real nice , am considering them myself since I cant really find a front bar I like either. How hard are they to mount ?

I'm not sure about your year but my factory fogs (2006) are pretty nice , compared to the one's that were on my Tahoe which were non exhistant at best....lol

That's stadium lighting. :p

:iagree: the '06 fogs are pretty darn good, making the normally dark area lit and lowbeams brighter. I've seen other factory fogs that light up a little bit of the ground just in front of the bumper and the worst act like parking lights. :biggrin2:

The dealer had both models, the one with yellow fog lights, and white fog lights. I chose white fog lights/white driving lights.

The 2006 fog lights are pretty decent. The factory projecton fog lamps on my 2005 T4R are purely decorative.

On the PIAA's you have to choose between driving or fog, not both simultaneously.

But since I have HID's on my low beams, I don't need the fog lights.

I use the fog lights on the PIAA's combined with the marker lights for early evening/late afternoon, or early morning, so I don't have to turn on my HID's.

How hard was it to mount them and adjust them ? I looked at the diagram of the kight's and see they can be mounted to the top or bottom. What exactly did you mount them to ? Are they solid without vibration.

Thinks they would look as good on an 06 with the round factory fogs ?

Id the switch wireless or do you have pic's of switches mounted.

Not sure if I want the yellow fogs or white fogs , since everything else is white the yellows might not be a bad option.

I also need to find a spot for some red & blue LED light's in there and back of truck too , but mostly concerned about R&B's in front.

One thing that concerns me is that if I do those lights ( which are excellent ) and keep my front plate it will block off all my air flow from lower grill.

That cant be a good thing.
