OEM Nav Bluetooth Compatibility

The OEM Navigation system with Bluetooth support can seem to be pretty picky. Not all Bluetooth phones work with it, often due to the wireless carrier asking the phone manufacturer to do something non-standard.

Toyota has been maintaining a list of Bluetooth phones that are compatible with the Nav system. But effective December 8, 2006, they are no longer issuing TSB's for this list. Instead, there is now a Web site you can check.

Not listed, but the Palm Treo650 works with it. It will make calls from the phonebook, speed dial and dial pad. However, it doesn't show the caller names for caller ID (phone numbers do sometimes), battery level and/or signal strength. Most of these restrictions are due to the carrier locking out some Bluetooth features or profiles. Oh wells, as long as I can answer calls from the steering wheel and not have to hold my phone that's good enough for now.
