OEM Oil Filter?

I'm getting ready to stock up on oil filters. I've got a 03 v8 4runner. The filter for the v8 is the 90915-YZZD3, correct? Also, do any of you guys know where I can get the best deal on a case of 10? I've checked trdparts4u, partznet, and ebay, and so far the best I've found is $40 for the case (shipped). I've read several posts I found in a search saying that people were getting them at under $4 each when buying in bulk. Any suggestions? Thanks!

If your going to get filters get the OEM Denso ones that end in #20004 that the factory installs in Japan. They blow EVERY single filter out of the water including Fram, M1, Napa etc etc - every single one.

But then again the 2UZ-FE is one of the easiest engines on oil so your fine either way.

If you go synthetic - do not be afraid to go 10k on your OCI's. 12k-15k with the Denso filter.

I'm just wanting to use the OEM filter as I hear it is much better. The part number in my first post is what I've always read to use (just not 100% positive that's the one for the v8). I'm running Castrol GTX High Mileage oil. According to the sticker in the window, the regular Castrol had been used previously so I'm trying to stick with it.

Toyota has several part numbers for the same size oil filter because the number depends on where it was made. The number in the OP is for the filter made in Thailand by Denso. That's also a good filter. 90915-20004 is the Denso filter made in Japan, and it's usually the one that comes installed from the factory on Toyota products made in Japan. That's an excellent filter, but it's more expensive than the other Toyota filters. Many dealers don't stock it for that reason.

The OEM one is the #20004 Denso one from Japan. I said that.....

I agree with Eskimochaos, it's far more important that you stay on interval with good quality oil and filter. If you're on a 5k interval and you're disciplined you're fine.



IMHO, if you want the very best filtration possible the -20004 is the best way to go. If I was running and extended interval with synthetic it'd be -20004 for sure. (I use the -20004 all the time. Do I "need it", probably not.)

Looks like $4.10 each on the D3 filter, ~$8.50 on the 20004. Since it seems both will do their job if keeping on regular changes (5k interval), I'm gonna pick up a case of the D3's for $40 shipped. Thanks!

Based on what? Is there a report on them with filtration ability, media capacity and beta ratio?
