In order to install the Sirius Kit in the 4runner you need two (2) kits.

Sirius Fit Kit (part # PTS31-33051) - includes wire harness from HU to Receiver, Antenna (Windshield Mount), Receiver bracket (which mounts underneath the passenger seat, and adhesive tape, screws, etc.
Dealer invoice price: $50.00

Sirius Base Kit - Receiver (part # PTS31-00052) - includes Sirius Receiver
Dealer invoice price: $150.00

Service Manager should be able to print out the correct way to install all the parts.

My understanding is you have to have a SAT button on your radio. The 06 4runner OEM's are the first to have this button in the 4runner.

I found a 06 unit that I just swapped out with my 05. I bought it on ebay for 180.00.

I talked to the Service Manager about adding XM to my '06 and he said it would cost me $450!! $300 for parts, $150 for the install.
Do different dealerships vary that mych in their prices?
 
I got quoted 250 for parts

I just received a quote from Jesse Wright, Internet Parts Sales
Metro Toyota, Cleveland, Ohio, a guy recommended from this forum for a the 4runner Sirius parts and it was:

250.00 plus shipping for the two parts needed to install Sirius in with the 06 JBL 6 disk 4runner OEM.

I'm sure as more stores get the Sirius and XM tuner for the 06 OEM the price will come down.

I received my 4Runner Sirius kit today (ordered from Metrotpn.com) and just finished up the install about 1/2 hour ago.

Took about 2 hours which was mostly tearing apart the dash and passenger seat, running the cable from the HU to the receiver (which mounts on a bracket that slides over the air vent under the passenger seat)

I used a roof mount antenna that came with a Sirius Sportster Replay cause the one in the 4Runner kit is one of those gigantic windshield mount types.

Nice to have everything integrated into the HU now. I had just left the Sporster lying in front of the gear shift temporarily and it was always sliding off onto the floor! Didn't spend too much time listening after activating cause I was in the garage and it was pretty damn hot even with the door open!! In that short time it did seem that the sound quality was a bit better than that of the Replay which was connected thru the line-in in the center console.

thanks for posting the info marnok, i have a few questions for you...

you say the windshield antennae is gigantic, can you compare its size to something common or post a pic? For the roofmount antenna, where do you route the wires to the unit?

Where did you get the instructions for taking the dash apart and getting the radio out?

did you need to buy ANYTHING other than the fit kit and the unit to install it; did it come with all the cables etc?

where do the wires route from under the seat to the back of the radio? under the carpets?

The windshield antenna is triangle-shaped about 4-5 inches per side and about 1/2 or so thick. I didn't want to use this as others have reported problematic reception. Plus it's butt-ugly.

There was another posting here that had a link to someone's dash-removal instructions. I'll try and find it again, or PM me your email address and I can send it to you. I also D/L'd the Sirius receiver install doc from Toyota's TIS (I think that's the name) site. It also shows how to remove the dash, but the other doc was better cause it had better pictures. The TIS doc also explains how to run the cable from the HU to the receiver. I can email this as well.

The fit kit has everything you need, even tie wraps and foam tape, metal mount for receiver that fits over air vent under front seat.

The install doc explains that. Gotta remove kickpanel on passenger side and the panel under the glove box.

Hey Guys, I picked up the kit and am having some problems. For some reason, the nav unit skips through some channels. For example it goes from 1,8,12,13,20,31 and won't let me get to anything in between... Any ideas?
 
I may be a cheapskate, but those prices for Sirius radio seems a bit steep. Not to mention you need to dismantle the dash to get to the head unit.

For about 80 bucks, I got the Sirius Replay for my 06 4R SE. I suction mounted it just under my 4wd switch and hard wired it undernear the center console below the 12V power outlet. I also used the AUX input instead of FM transmission. Its a clean looking install and sounds great. Anteana is roof mounted. It took me less than an hour (for me). For someone who knows what they're doing it would take 10 minutes.

I know it doesn't look as nice as having it all integrated in the HU, but still looks fine.

you probably have found this out already..and may be a no duh reply...but when you first hook up the receiver and turn it on you will have the base channels.

you then have to go online and activate it. once you have activated it they will give you a choice to send the activation signal to the unit. tune to channel 184 and hit the button. it should only take a minute...and you will see the word "updating" on your screen.

Yeah I figured it out. What happened was I shut the car off during the activation signal so the entire signal never came through. So only some of the channels came in. Once I resent the activation signal it worked perfect...
 
Does anyone have the install document from Toyota? I just received my Sirius kit and need to know where to run the wires. I have had the dash apart in the past so hat isn't an isuue. So if someone has it and can email or fax it to me I would really appreciate it.

Help! Anyone? My wife has taken the kids to the cottage so I was hoping to install this tonight.

Even if someone could describe where the wires go that would be a great help.

From what I have read this goes under the passenger seat and mounts over the air duct. To do this you have to cut the carpet (as per the template that came with the install kit). How is the mounting bracket secured to the floor? Where do the wires go from here? I see that the 14 pin connector is on the passenger door side so does it run under the carpet and behind the kick panel? Where does it run from there?

A bag of wire ties and tape came with the install kit. I can probably figure out where the wire ties go but what do the 6 black pads with adhesive on one side go? What about the 4 strips of double sided tape and the 1 self tapping metal screw?

And the last question is what is the white plug/grommet for? It has a hole through the center that looks to be the same diameter as the wire but the plugs on the end are too large to pass through.

I am not sure what kit you got but you should have received a tuner, the wiring harness and an antenna. And a bunch of other crap that really doesn't matter.

The harness plugs in from the tuner to the back of the deck/nav. It plugs into the RSE/CD Changer port which I believe is the 12 pin plug, R14. The other end plugs into the sirius tuner. Its that simple.

The antenna plugs into the tuner.

As far as where you mount it, what you do with the tape, etc, is really up to you. I stuck mine behind the right rear storage compartment so it is not visible at all and I ran the wiring underneath the runner boards.

What part numbers did you buy? Let me know if you have any other questions.

I'd also like a copy of the PDF. I just called my dealer and they have one available, but it's about $300 for the fit kit and the receiver. Anyone able to get a better price on the 'net?
