oem switch for aux lighting

Does toyota make a switch that would fit in one of the switch blanks? I could mount the fog light switch that came with my new fog lights in a blank, but I would rather have an OEM looking push button that works the lights so it would look factory. Is that something anyone ahs done? It seems like you could take any of the two position on/off switches and make it operate whatever you want. I switch just breaks and connects a circuit or am I way off??

You can definitely get a factory Toyota switch that will fit in one of the blanks to operate lights or whatever. They are on the expensive side though.
I don't believe Toyota makes a fog light switch for the 4th gen so the switch will most likely have a different diagram on it.

Cool! That FJ switch will fit in the 4runner switch blank? It is a little expensive, but worth it to get the look. It even has a foglight symbol!! :bigok:

You betcha! That'll fit a 4Runner. It'll fit Tacomas, 4Runners and FJs all the same.

This is the current production light switch which looks completely factory. There is also a factory 3rd generation Taco switch, but it looks a little dated compared to this one. It's about $12 bucks for the 3rd gen switch, it ain't nearly as cool though! :D

That is awesome!! I already called my local toyota dealership parts department and that talked to me like I was re****ed  When I am done installing everything with that new switch in, i'll make sure to swing by and show that parts guy. :D

Thanks black majic!!

No problem!

does anyone know how to wire up this factory type switch to a pair of lights?? It comes with no directions and I am lost. The switch that comes with the KC lights only takes 3 wires and they are marked to were they go on the switch. On this OEM type switch it has for wires coming out of it and they are all green  ?? Has anyone used this switch? I need help. I don't want to screw anythign up by putting the wrong wire to the wrong terminal on the switch. And I don't even have a forth wire!

I prefer this switch it matches the color of my neck.

Thanks for the suggestions guys , but I already have the switch. i did a little more research on the FJ forums(that's what the switch is actually for) and found out that one wire is four a 12V source, one wire is the control wire from the relay, one wire is a 12V source that comes on with the lights for the back light on the switch and one wire is ground for the back light. What I couldn't find was exactly which terminal is which. I found some diagrams for 6 terminal switches, the extra two are for an 12v source for an on light and ground for that light. But I couldn't find a diagram for the 4 wire switch that the link above is four, which is what I have. Thanks!

Alright, I installed the KC slimlights and the OEM foglight switch this weekend. It took about 2 hours (I don't do a ton of work on cars, so I had to learn some stuff on the way), but everything turned out great. I figured out how to wire the switch, but it still isn't backlit when the lights come on. I just left those two wires capped off. I didn't know what to tap into for that. But the lights look and work great on the bull bar, and the switch is just awesome. Looks like a factory option!! When I get my CF leveling lift in I will take pics of everything. Thanks for all the help guys!!

i am looking to do this same thing where do you find the 3rd gen switch black magic i am going to have to buy at least 3 so the around 12.00 each will suit me fine

I got that $12 switch from a dealer a few months ago to switch my Hella fogs on my '90. $65 for a switch is nuts. I felt totally reamed when I paid $35 for a fog switch for my MR2 a few years ago. I can think of better things to spend $53 on.

One weird thing about that $12 switch I haven't figured out yet, when I turn the dimmer up all my dash lights get brighter expect this switch which gets dimmer. When I turn the dimmer down the switch gets brighter, dash dimmer. Anyone have an explanation for this?

I would just go to ebay. That is where I order mine from. Granted I didn't get the pig tails and the connector for the back of the switch. I just searched ebay and this I found some one selling Taco fog light switches for $20. Now I do have to let you know this. The Taco switch is a little on the red side but I also didn't wire it in through the dimmer light all the other dash light are. Here is the link.

hi Aaron, do you have a pic you can provide of the switch light on during the night?

hey dollaz...i have the fj fog light switch. it's different from the taco switch (the fj has an on indicator i think).

got it from here: link

Here's a pic of it at night (the original back lighting was green or orange):

Correct, no indicator on the Tacoma fog switch. The graphic is a little different too. The FJC switch would be the way to go, IMO.
