OEM Tires Rub

2004 SE here with original OEM Dunlops. While turning into parking spots or any other tight areas I notice some tire rub. It looks like a wheel well plastic trim behind front tire rubs against the edge of the tire when turned in. Does enyone else noticed this?

Do you have wheel spacers installed? I've read about some rubbing problems when some spacers are used. I have an '05 SR5 and '07 SE both on stock Bridgestone and Dunlops 265/65R17 sizes respectively and no rubbing. Post some pics if you can.

Did you bend the plastic wheel well liner? That's the only way OEM tires will rub if your 4Runner is bone stock.

A friend of mine was running off road and creased the plastic liner and made it rub against the tires while turning. He had to bend it back and everything was okay again.

No spacers, just bone stock 4Runner. I have to correct myself though, it's a stock mud guard that rubs on outside edge of the tire when turning.

Can you get a pic. I have upsized tires and no rubbing on mud flaps. Is it different from driver to passenger side?
Did you possibly hit a curb or something and push the spindle back? It may still handle OK but an alignment shop might be able to help.

I found it, damn mud guard was packed with dirt and gravel from my last trip to Pikes Peek. It was pushed toward the tire creating almost no clearance. I took it off, cleaned everything and placed it back on. No problems now. Thanks for your input guys.

I'm having a similar problem with rubbing after changing the stock dunlop 265/70R16's to identically sized michelin LTX M/S2's.. However, the rubbing only occurs against the frame when turned ALL the way to one side. The truck is completely stock.. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!
