Don't mean to sound harsh.. but have you done any research into this? I mean... we welcome any and all questions... but we would like for you to do a bit of research before asking.

So we're helping you save money because you typed a couple words out? I mean.... how easy would it be for me to come in here, without looking around, and asking where is the cheapest place for filters... accessories....etc.

As for the Bug guard... most of the private collision stores can get things cheaper from the dealership then you and I can. If you know a friend that has connections to a dealership or the salesperson can get things cheaper too.

Jake

I don't mind giving some assistance here. I believe that is the purpose of this forum.

I bought mine online from www.brandsport.com for around $100.00.

One of the best prices I have seen though is at Toyota of Richardson. Their website is www.usatoyotaparts.com They are offering the OEM hood protector for $91.71 and that includes shipping!

I hope this helps.

Maybe you should have said YOU would like him to do research before asking. I don't have a problem with him asking for the best deal without researching it first.

What's with all the attitudes lately?

This forum is to share information among 4Runner owners. If I knew the least expensive place to buy a an OEM bug shield, I would just tell him-- not REQUIRE him to research it first.

What's wrong with someone asking a simple question? Do you really have a problem with helping someone save some money by simply asking for the best deal around??

You dont sound harsh, and yes I searched around, didnt find much about the best price, I found alot of opinions on the funtion of bug guards and such. I check a few links I had bookmarked for toyota parts, but all of them seems over priced, thats why I thought I would ask you guys.

Sorry for the confusion iForce, maybe next time I ask a question, I will post up every bit of reasearch I did beforehand. Or should I just PM you requesting permission to ask a question?
Not to sound Harsh.

Jake

Jake, look at getting the Canadian bug deflector. To me, it fits the lines of the 4Runnr better:

Sorry for the crappy quality, but if you do a search on the board for Canadian bug guard or something similar you'll find some of the members have them.

You can find it for the cheapest I've seen here: http://www.newtoyotaparts.com/product/?id=1627

I think you bought your Surf Trash bag there too.

Since we're on the topic, and i am in the market for a bug shield, I was wondering if anyone can tell me if the OEM Toyota bug shield uses any type of stick ons or adhesives that actually touch the paint. The Canadian version is very tempting but I dont want anything touching my paint. Thanx for the help.

alrighty then. yes. I would prefer people to do some sort of research before hand. Try and figure out whether it would be cheaper locally or through the internet. There is no REQUIREMENT to do research, but it would be nice if people did look into it on their own.

Feel free to ask anything you want, don't need my permission to do so. Obviously you don't need permission in terms of displaying your attitude Boaz, you conveyed that quite effectively through your post.

iforce thanks for you help in the bug guard search. You are a great asset to the T4R.ORG website. In the future I will try to research more. I didnt know you were so sensitive. I should of known, you are from Canada.:)

Lighten up dude.

The non-canadian bug shield doesn't use any sort of 3M tape or anything, it actaully screws into the underside of the hood in 4 pre drilled spots.

Just be careful to screw them in tight. The reason i say this is b/c the bracket that goes around the lip of the hood rubs agains the lip and takes off the paint (i think). I don't care about that on mine b/c

A: it was factory installed so any missing paint is their ass and not mine

B. It is leased.

Hahahaha... hey, if I knew where to get the best deal on the bug shield, I'd tell ya without bitchin' about it:D

BTW, those shields look good, but can they harm the paint in any way?

Hitman, you are right. Canadians are kind of stupid.

with a quote like that, I wouldn't put your sense of maturity past 17years old.

As for the bug shield, us Canadians, are able to get a hold of one that don't require any tape/adhesive. You might be able to get them in the States so I would suggest you look into that.

Canadian ones are held on by clips and rubber bumpers. This wouldn't require you to stick things on the paint.

Hitman - I just expect people to look into it a bit before asking. Its like me wanting to put a supercharger in and coming onto t4r.org and asking... " where can I find a supercharger for my 4R for cheap?" At least I could've asked my dealership first or went onto google and did a search for it. I'll drop this now many members of this site has taken a negative outlook on this.

There's nothing wrong with that if that's how you feel. But keep in mind that other members may not feel the same way.

If I just spent weeks researching the best deal I could find on a supercharger, and you came to the forum and asked where to find the best deal, I'd tell you what I found without any problems.

All I'm saying is that if you have a problem with someone asking before researching, then just don't offer your knowledge of the best deal. I'm sure that other members will respond. No need to berate someone for asking though....

Agreed, but there's no censorship on the boards. I'm entitled to what I think. On the other hand, I'll take your point and I'd like to apologize to the members who felt like I giving attitude for asking a question.
