OEM toyota wheel options/pics for 3rd gen 4runner *post em up*

I have the stock 2000 4Runner rims on my 1998 4Runner, and you have probably head this a thousand times, but I plasti-dipped mine, and I love them. If you do a good job, you can not even tell they are plasti-dipped, and the rubber peals off so you protect your rim's paint from rocks and stuff when off roading.

I need help seeing if these TRD wheels (PART# PT7583517002) for a 3rd GEN Tacoma would fit a 3rd GEN 1998 4Runner. Based on all the specs I don't see why the wheel won't fit but I've called multiple dealerships and they couldn't give me a definitive answer. The part fitment guides online says the TRD wheel are almost identical with the exception of the Tacoma having a hub center bore size of 106.1mm versus the 106mm that's on the 4runner. Will the .1mm cause issues? I have also found that some sites leave out the .1 when reporting the Tacoma bore size, so I'm wondering if that is also the case for the 4runner as the following site states the 4runner is 106.1mm Toyota 4Runner Bolt Pattern, Wheel Size, Lug Pattern and Rim Specs

Apologize ahead of time for the over-explanation. I just really want to know if the wheels will fit before ordering them.

The tires I have on now are BFGoodrich KO2 265/70R16.

The TRD pro is a nice looking wheel but why waste your money on them? I can't understand why anyone would buy a 16x7 wheel when the factory wheel is that. I suppose if you never plan on upgrading tires or going past a 285/75/16.

A 265/70/16 should fit just fine on that. The offset is a minimal amount of difference or at least would seem to me. You could verify how much spacing you have though between the UCA and wheel.

I am not the original owner and the factory wheels were replaced with some unmarked aftermarket wheels that were powder coated to hide corrosion. I just recently discovered the corrosion issue a few days ago when tire pressure on one wheel would go down to ~12 PSI over night, which was what my local shop told me after trying to repair the tire/wheel with some bead seal and was unsuccessful.

Why go with TRD, well... I like sticking to factory as much as possible. I love the classic but most factory wheels aren't available in black and I'm not familiar nor have any desire to have wheels painted/powder coated. I honestly don't mind the 16" wheels. I also checked TireRack but didn't find anything I liked. Now aftermarket rims on my supra makes sense.

I run these ALY75189 Tacoma rims. They look to have the same spec as the pro’s.

When I was a younger wheeler we ran 15” rims and big tires with massive side walls. Those side walls were a part of the suspension and traction. Now days they sell trucks with 20” rims and low profile tires. I can’t imagine they are good off-road or on the backroads.
16” rims are plenty big to clear the rigging. After that I want side wall.

I checked Toyota's compatibility list and it also lists those ALY75189 are not compatible with our 3rd gen 4Runners, so this makes me believe that their compatibility database is incorrect in regards to not fitting and more of an issue with nobody bothered to enter compatibility data for our gen.

I wonder if anyone in this thread could help me. Just got an 02 SR5 this past weekend and has the stock 225/75/15" wheels on it. I looked at the sticker on the door and it had the option of 265/70/16 wheels as an option. I see most runners rocking stock 16's and a few with newer gen or Taco OE 17's. I don't plan on doing much play in the dirt or any heavy hauling with the truck. I would like to upgrade to 16's or 17's with some decent all season tires and if possible use OE rims. Most I see on this thread is beefier tires and raised. It's only a 4x2 so no need to raise it and off-road it out. It will be more for daily drive use or trips from the LA area to the Central Valley in CA so also some freeway use. The tires on it are almost ready to be changed out so if I need to do the full set, I might as well change rims as well. Any input would be greatly appreciated

3rd Gen noob here. I just picked up a 2000 Limited. What is the common name of this wheel design?

The nice old golfer I got it from had just put on a set of Toyo street tires. I hate that you are expected to pay to have perfectly good tires 'disposed of' when upgrading. Definitely going to try to pass them on to someone one way or another. Ideally for a set of meaner-looking rims I can put some real tires on. Maybe I'll offer them to one of the used tire shops in the city. I know a lot of people feel that murdered-out rims are played out, but my 3rd gen in 100% stock trim looks feeble. Also, coming from a 2nd Gen w/15s it's a bit of a shock that tires in 16" are $100 more per tire.

I am not going to lie, I know this sounds like i am being rude but i completely promise you I am not. From the bottom of my heart, next time just actually look up some sort of reference for how small .1mm is.. it would be common sense that this would work for either or if one is considering how small of a variation that is.

Those 285s look good! I just recently put the same rims on with 265/75R16 KO2s. Thinking about going bigger but not sure if I want to put money on a lift. Which lift do you have on yours?

For those of you running the Trail Edition / TRD Offroad wheels, are you running spacers?

I want to run 275/70s KO2s but I'm not convinced there'd be enough clearance to the upper control arms. Currently running 245s I maybe only have an inch between the tire and the UCA.

I run the 3rd gen Taco TRD pro wheels with 265s, I am going up to 285s later this year and that’s the max I’d go. I like them more than the 5th gen 4Runner 17” TRD pro wheels. A bit understated and I got them for super cheap too. I got them for the price of brand new tires pretty much.
