Apologies, didn't bring the camera. BUT:
At the farm for the weekend, so we decided to have some fun. My 4runner and a Jeep Cherokee (2 live axels) went out looking for some challenges. We soon found them. I entered a nearby slew with my center diff unlocked. I slowed down to a crawl (not by choice) and made it out by just a hair. The jeep took a big run to follow my line, and got stuck. Sunk to the bumper and just dug in.
Straps came out, Rob used the roof to avoid getting knee-deep, hooked himself up and threw me the line. I yanked the jeep out from the side and we were back in action. I have more "grass" attached to the bottom of the runner then I do on my lawn!
We did a few more passes, and I tell ya it would have been a great pic: massive waves off the sides, and 2-30 foot long "spray lines" from the back tires. Much better with VSC disabled.
After some minor other off-roading, and we then decided to do some hill climbing. This is a relatively steep hill, right behind the farm house. I choose the worst lines I could find, but the runner took them no sweat. The jeep mostly took easier lines (as during the whole trip). I used the DAC. Not bad, but right at the top (start) it came on late, and gave me a bit of a scare. Once in action it really seemed to work. Often this hill is muddier (early spring), and I could really see the benefit of DAC then.
What I am most amazed with is the trip on gravel roads and the control + smoothness of the ride. You hardly feel the substantial washboard.
J
PS: on the highway I managed 12L/100 = 20mpgs or so. Good enough for me!
