Off-Road in Ouachita National Forest, Arkansas

OK im taking the family their in July, Date still undecided. Question is Ive never been to Arkansas so does anyone from around their have any recommendations to do in the National Forest.

I have joined Geocaching.com and plan on hitting some wilderness caches. Hopfully this gives us a sense of direction while were in the forest, versus driving aimlessly around.

Open to any advise while we are in state. planning to do primitive camping a few nights and maybe a hotel around Hot Springs? for a few.

Planning on 5 or 6 days maybe sunday-friday

Below is a link to the Arkansas section of the CO forum. We have lots of members from the area who can point you in the right direction.

We travel the Ouachitas at least 2 times per year. I have done lots of hiking out there, but not in July.

My biggest concern about the Ouachitas in July is the ticks, but you should check with the folks on the board...
