Off-roading In/Near Houston, TX

Hey all,

I would like to know who is interested in taking their GX/4runner (or anything else you have) off-road?? I know of a few places near Houston where we can off-road. Here is the list of vehicles from my family that may go with me:

'04 MB G500 (mine)
'01 Lexus LX470 (brother)
'01 Land Rover Discovery SII (brother)
'03 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon (brother)
'04 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited (friend)

TexGX agrees to go on the next trip...he has GX470 with KDSS. Anyone else??

BTW, i do NOT plan on trashing my car. Thus, it will be light off-roading that we can all enjoy. Bring your family if you want.

I just need to know who to call when i find a good place to off-road.

Thanks.

Hi Thai,
I am a Newbie and recently got my SE 4x4 05. I will post some pictures and introduce myself to everyone soon. :driving:

I don't think I am quite ready for off roading with my new 4R. However, I would love to visit that off roading site near Houston.
I am glad that you live n Houston because I do live here as well.
Searching for a 4x4 in Houston made me feel somewhat awkward. Everyone and every dealer would say: " you don't need a 4WD in Houston!" My bro who has owned many 4WDs and lives in the country teased me a lot about it and said: " have fun Rock climbing on the mountains of Houston !"

I asked myself whether I was the only one who missed the snow and the mountains here. ... Since you are in Houston I was wondering whether I could get together with you and other 4R enthusiasts and pick your brains. The last thing you guys probably want is a newbie with tons of dumb questions...

Thanks!

Sure, we can meet sometime in the near future. You can ride in one of the trucks if we off-road.

Spring Creek

Hey Thai,

I read on on the LC site of a place called Spring Creek that you can drive off road. I will try to get directions. Lets plan something soon.

Sounds good to me!

Found the mother load.

Thai,

I found this link that talks about all the different places to do off-road. http://www.ansley.net/mud_spots.php Spring Creek is listed and sounds great. I live very close to Spring. We would want to go when it is fairly dry it sounds like. They also have several other places. I would be willing to go on a camping/off-roading trip to some of those places.

I will PM you guys individually. However, as a general announcement, my brother and I are planning to do some light off-roading up in Austin this Saturday afternoon (2/12/05). If you're interested, then please PM me or respond to this message.

Thanks.

Ok, guys...another chance to test your skills in off-roading!! On March 19 (Saturday), i am planning to go off-road in LIBERTY, TX, which is east of Houston (on Highway 90). There is an off-roading site that is popular to Jeepers and it's not too difficult from what i hear.

Anyone interested in joining me??

PM me if you're interested.

Thai,

I am in. The only thing is Liberty is swamp land. If it does not stop raining soon, most of it will be under water. If it is too wet, we still could have a group meet. Maybe have a group meet for lunch. Call me and I fill you in on some things around Liberty.

Well i would love to go and meet up but since i have a 2WD :( i can only watch. Unfortunatley this week is spring break and we are going to be parting that weekend down in south padre so next time let me know and ill be down for meeting up.

If you don't want to take your 4runner, then just tag alone with us in one of our vehicles. Just check this thread out once in a while for updates.

My wife sent me this link. She thought I might want to go with you all. She was right.

I have a 2000 Limited 4WD and brand new Wrangler R/Ts but it's too clean right now! :)

Please let me know the details and I can meet you guys if there is room. I can do a proper intro there.

Thanks.

TexGX, yup, that sounds good. I have confirmed that a Porsche Cayenne will join us for sure.:) We can have lunch at the Mexican place. The Jeepers will show up around 2pm from what i hear. We can either leave early and then meet back or we can just relax and eat.

It's gonna be fun!
