off roading question

I ve been to a few places on the internet and gathered some information on some places but my question is this. With all the people on this board, from all over the world, why dont we have a section of state by state, and forgien country trails, from logging road easy to advanced with reviews and trip times, gear requirements etc?

Well, from a northern New England perspective, it's because there isn't much public wheeling.

Most of what we run is private or semi-private land that we have secured permission to run. My Club belongs to a local association that is instrumental in securing private land to run, and working with the state to preserve what little public wheeling there is.

I know it's different and more wide open in other parts of the country, but up here, the best way to wheel a lot and wheel varied stuff, is to join a club and get involved.

Basically, this is not an offroad trails forum. It's for 4Runners.

The work required to set up a database like you want would be enormous, and for the level of offroad enthusiasts on this board, it's just not worth it. Other sites have tried this before and it fails.

Like Sporin has done, the best way to get info on trails in certain areas is to look up a local club. That's where the info lies. I live in Pittsburgh, so to find out about trails in my area I became a member on PghOffRoad . National and State parks organizations often have info sheets for trail systems that come close to describing the things you want, but again, it's local level stuff.
One thing to be aware of though. Places to wheel are becoming fewer and fewer and a lot of the info is going 'underground' to avoid overuse and the resulting environmental damage that gives fuel to those who want places shut down to all vehicular traffic.

Maz there are clubs that wheel here in Southern California pikeman and myself wheel with guys at ttora. PM Pikeman and he would gladly inform you about local runs.

Where are you located at in Ohio? There really isn't anything in NW Ohio, but in eastern and NE Ohio you get a few options. Check out Ohttora.org.

Most decent clubs are affiliated with the UFWDA. Check their site

I know it's not an American based website or contains much American 4WD info BUT..... this other forum that I am a member of contains a fair bit of info on places to go 4WDing in Australia with photo's and stories of where people have toured and generally just had a good time, what's more they are open to other peoples stories about touring from other corners of the globe.
There is also a s@#t load of people with 4 Runners on it that are more then willing to provide you with any info regarding 4wding with your 4Runner (as long as you own from 1st gen to 3rd gen).
