Official 5th Gen T4R Off-Road pics

A few from today at Bangs Canyon, in the playground.

This last shot is pretty gnarly!
Any damage?

Love it when you're in the mountains and can see different weather from so far away.

Honestly, I don't think I would've noticed the weather if you hadn't brought it up. I was more focused on the 1000ft drop. I would imagine, if I was in the position behind the wheel, I would be trying not to emit vomit from every orafice iny my body.

Near Hot Sulphur Springs, CO on Tuesday

Neat and quick little jaunt off of Highway 40 just out side of Hot Sulphur Springs, CO. One of the pictures shows view of Hot Sulphur Springs from the top of the trail.

Got a chance to drop my TE into low range last week in southern Arizona.. nothing crazy but after driving a Rubicon on 35's for the last few years I was anxious to see what the 4Runner could do. I'm still playing with the "multi-terrain select" mode vs "ATRAC".. as far as I can tell the multi terrain is useful for sand and mud while just ATRAC or multi-terrain in full clockwise is best for rocks and most other situations. I'll be curious to see what happens come snow season in Tahoe. Regardless, I was happy to experience zero wheelspin on rocky terrain with my stock outfit. On a side note, compared to a solid front, the 4Runner provides a MUCH improved ride on washboard dirt roads. I processed these pics slightly to bring out shadow detail to observe what was going on with the suspension.

In deep snow, I usually just run it with ATRAC on. It does a good job at aggressively using the traction control allowing you to keep your momentum up. It actually seems to work better than the rear locker as I usually find myself fishtailing going straight uphill with the locker on.
Also, CRAWL control has been able to push through some deep spots where no other combination would get through. So far, that is the only situation where I have found CRAWL to be of any use, however I haven't used it much anywhere else because of the godawful noise and lurching.

Good to know, thanks for the input. I agree on running lockers in snow, I always kept my diffs open in the jeep.. at least for general driving.

Had some fun with the Main Line Overland crew and friends this past weekend in Bald Eagle State Forest in PA! Also know there are some LC200 lovers here...Alex wheels the hell out of his...

As most of us were in the process of getting stuck in the river bed, Intruder tried to pass me while I was stuck, found a deep pocket, and decided to stick around for a while to be recovered as well.
