I've used mine at the beach the tricky part is setting up definitely a two person job, once you've gotten all the clips and zipper in just make sure you have it staked in DEEP other wise enjoy the beach view:whoo:

Has anyone made their own brackets to mount an ARB awning to a Baja/Gobi rack?

I just can't justify spending $85 2 little clamp-on brackets. I'm sure I could find some cheap hardware and bolts and make a functional mount for MUCH less.

If anyone has made their own brackets, I would be interested to see your ideas.

Does anyone have a photo of the awning room packed up? My RTT annex is a PITA to pack up, is heavy, and takes up a lot of room. looking to see if the awning is a better fit for changing/ shower room.

This is exactly what I want the room for. I figure once I get my road shower built this will serve as a good shower room.

Also when we are out camping and get rain I am hoping the room will be big enough to fit a small table and four chairs to play cards and stay out of the elements.

Any recommendations for a 1.5-1.6 meter awning? Have a Front Runner 3/4 length rack going on and don't want too much excess to the front.

I don't know about 1.5 but ARB makes a 1.25M. Maybe that would work for you?

Here is a pic of my room w/floor packed up. Box its on is 30x16.

The Awning room is just slightly larger/heavier than my 23zero Bundaberg vestibule.

Honestly, I think setting up the awning alone is harder than attaching the room. I always have trouble getting the legs set out at first, lol.

Totally agree here. We started packing it up with the floor still attached. It's a little faster to setup and pack up, but still a PITA.

I have 2012 TE with factory rack & rails, new to me last August.

Which awnings, if any, work (well?) with the factory setup, please?

Fourtreks Awning Bracket Anti-rotation

I love the shade our ARB awning provides when we’re camping. It’s also nice to setup our camp kitchen under it in the event we get rain. I bought the FourTreks mounts for our Baja Flat Utility Rack. The problem with mounting an awning to a mount that only engages the tubing is that it is difficult to get enough friction on the mounting clamps to avoid rotation of the awning.

I tried adding a rubber sleeve between the bar and mount, which worked fine on-road, but didn’t hold up to the jarring off-road. By the end of the trip, the awning was sitting against the paint, which was no bueno.

The solution is a couple of rubber coated metal clamps, long ¼-20 bolt, and some ¼” nuts. By placing the rubber coated clamps around the crossbars, then threading the bolt through the clamps and one of the 2 open holes on the back of the FourTrek mount, I was able to keep my awning from rotating down. We just tested it out with 70 miles of off-roading and the awning didn’t budge!

After a number of months, finally got my CVT awning on. Being the 99"er, setting it up solo seems like it's going to take some practice. Pictured here was just slapping it up real quick to see how things worked.

Pretty happy with the size. Was concerned it'd be too big, but it's going to work out quite well.

I have mine attached to my stock rails but I know yours is a little different from mine. But can't imagine it being all that bad. But I used L brackets from Lowes and u bolts to attach it.

ARB 2000 on my Prinsu rack. If anybody is curious, you can use the Foxwing Awning Tracklander Brackets on your Prinsu crossbars. Just gotta drill a couple holes on the brackets for the bolts.
