Heck yeah. Love blades.

My EDC is typically a kershaw Leek and a pro tech godfather.

Have most of the ESEE models up to about 2015. Love the 4 and the 6 most. Love the Junglas II also.

Have a few scrap yards also. Good knives.

I'm really into auto knives. Micro tech ultra tech. Benchmade Infidel. Protect godfather and godson. Those are my favorites.

Balisongs Im getting into more and more. I picked up a benchmade model 42 last year, found a mint condition t-latch and got it for a damn good trade. Traded a hammer drill and sawzall for it!

One of my favorite knives is one my grandfather gave me. It's an old bone handle (human bone) straight razor.

Ive always wanted to forge my own knives. Never got around to getting the equipment though. Some day...

I carry my Benchmade Osborne everyday. Here are the knives I really use:

- Benchmade Osborne
- Benchmade Mini Griptilian
- Buck folding knife, assisted opening
- CRKT M16

I have plenty of other, folders and fixed blades. Mora, CRKT, other Benchmades (old ones), Spyderco, Kabar, etc.

I have a fixed blade that's Damascus steel, with a handle made of Camel bone. My other fancy one has a handle made of bull bone. Both are handmade in the US.

I'm torn between the Gerber Icon and Ontario Rat 1 for my EDC, that I switch between the two frequently. More than likely, I'll take the Rat 1 with me. The Icon is just a hair bit slimmer, but man... I don't notice it's in my pocket even for it's size. The Rat 1, after the scales, is very comfortable to use in hand. It's a bit thicker, which also helps the comfort of using it, but it's obvious when it's in your pocket(which is weird, since it's only a few millimeters different...). I've had the Rat 1 much longer than the Icon, and I'm still impressed at what it has done, especially for being AUS8. I've pried stuff I shouldn't have pried. I've used it as a throwing knife(What else are you going to do when you and your friends are bored out camping, drinking and there's a few trees around?). I've used it to bushcraft/chop down wood when I've left my ESEE at home. It has yet to fail.

The ESEE 6 is my go to camp/outdoor/hiking/backpacking knife. It's larger than most people want, but it does everything. Including stupid stuff..

I don’t have much of a knife collection but I’ve always carried and came close to buying a few that I thought were nice. I’ve found a few kershaws at my work that I’m really impressed with but still, don’t really know what I have. What are the generally best brands for durability?
How do you guys prefer to sharpen your knifes? Educate me please :withstupid:

I EDC a Benchmade 940 and would highly recommend it: S30V steel; 3.4" blade length and under 3 ounces. It's been used to collect Botany samples - where a sharp cut is important - and still easily cuts paper after a quick sharpening. There's a more expensive carbon fiber version if you're into that, but I think the balance is just right on the standard model. Photo is from when it was still new.

Honestly like any other thing are are fan boys of x brand and the material their made of. Sure, a better material will hold its edge better, but at the end of the day, it's still going to be used and still will need sharpening. And hell, as long as you're not buying some $5 China-Bay special, the blade should be decent enough to hold its edge. But at the end of the day, just go with a reputable brand. A few are Gerber, Smith and Wesson, CRKT, Kershaw,Benchmade, ZT, ESEE, etc. The most important thing is comfort. You don't want a knife that has good specs but is uncomfortable to use... What's the point?

Depending on how dull the blade is, I'll use a different procedure. But mainly, I prefer to use a low grit diamond sharpener to start off and work my way up and finalize it using a high grit stone.

Jk... I just buy the ones that I like. I think after owning alot of knives, people develop their own tastes for what knives fit them.

I tend to lean towards gentleman folders (titanium scales, 3 to 3.5 inch thin blades, one hand operation)...although I love my swss bowie...... Its a poor man's sebenza basically....

I've been through a lot of knives. Most recently, got into the EXPENSIVE Microtech buying hobby. Good thing is, they retain their value and are easily re-sold. I like the out the front knives, but they weren't as reliable as a folder. So I compromised and stayed with an automatic folder. I have ESEE's and Benchmade's as well, but my Stitch is my favorite to carry.

My everyday carry knife is a SOG Twitch Tanto XL non serrated. I’m completely satisfied with it, I’ve used it day in and day out for years. I only go with non serrated because they are so much easier to sharper and maintain the edge.

SOG’s have always been on my favorites List ever since I had (and sadly lost) a leather-sided folder from them many years ago that I learned to whittle with. CRKT is another one I like to give as gifts since they also tend to look “cool”.

The Tasman is somewhere at my parents house - lost it moving some brush last fall. So it's probably in the woods under a foot of snow. Hopefully I'll find it in the spring. It's completely rust proof, and the best knife for 'out in the yard.' The waved Endura I gave to my brother when he lost his. The Delica is my oldest and most used.

Have been into Benchmade the past three months. Lost my Spyderco years ago (don't even remember the model) and my last Kershaw was a cheap piece of junk that couldn't hold an edge. I also pre-ordered the new Benchmade 565 Mini Freek.

Just to keep this thread going.

Pre-ordered and received this new model from Benchmade last week as a first production (indicated on the blade but doesn't really hold any significant extra value, it's still mass produced).

Similar to my Mini Griptilian, a tad bigger. The grip is rubbery and tactile, it could be a plus for some and a negative for others. My hands are dry usually so G10 or composite grips can be slippery in casual handling. I like that it has the S30V steel vs the 154CM on the mini grip. Got it for $105.

Maybe it's because it's first production but the action is stickier than my Mini Loco (also first production) and Mini Grip. Hoping it'll break-in and get smoother over time.

anyone ever use a SOG automatic? Im looking at the sog-tac mini auto. Ive owned SOG before but never an auto, benchmades are way to much money for as frequently as I lose knives. ;/
