Just a word to the wise, The ATF monitors all ammo and fire arm transaction made online. Me and a group of volunteer fire fighters in my area got together to make a big ammo purchase as we could all through in and get several thousand rounds cheaper than just making individual purchases.
yeah well the one gentlemen that placed the order had the ATF come knocking on his door questioning his need for the ammo amount he explained the situation which lead to all 8 of us involved with the order to be interviewed and back ground checked by the ATF.
I've found local gun shows to be the best place to find cheap ammo. there's typically one every few months hear in charlotte NC. You can find 50 round box's of .40 s&w for 10-15 bucks for full metal jacket and 20-25 for hollow point. Me and my buds go there now to rack up on ammo
I'm curious under what statute or authority the ATF "background checked" you? There is no federal requirement for a "background check" on ammo purchases. Also, I've bought several tens of thousands of rounds from various Internet dealers and have never had the BATFE come to my house. Furthermore, I live down the road from someone who has 50,000 round lots drop shipped from Speer/ATK and he has never been "background checked" either.
I'm a moderator on a fairly active firearms forum who's owner shoots upwards of 50,000 rounds through test guns each year since 2008, and the only time he has ever had any sort of law enforcement interaction in regards to his ammo consumption was when someone REPORTED HIM (the delivery driver IIRC) for buying such a large quantity of ammo.
What documents did you provide to the BATFE so that they could "background check" you? We're you detained while this was happening? Was your ammo seized?
Are you sure this happened?
