yeah maybe. It's like the Hostess panic all over again.

Pisses me off because if we don't have ammo (22lr is the primary ammo we will use) then we can't have our marksmanship class and the fee I paid was for nothing.

It truly is panic buying. People are afraid that a new ban is coming (for obvious reasons) so they are buying every gun and all the ammo they can get their hands on. This is how John Farnam described it:

I was at a large gun retailer yesterday and discovered our state's highly-touted "instant-check" system isn't! In fact, it is currently so constipated that "instant" approvals are now taking in excess of twenty-four hours. Thousands of guns were behind the counter, already sold, but awaiting transfer approval. Simultaneously, unsold inventory is nearly gone, with resupply at this point mostly speculative. Ammunition is by and large sold-out. 223, in every brand and bullet weight, is definitely all gone. And, there was a fidgety line of anxious gun-buyers extending out the door. It's the same all over!

I went to my local wally world looking for gas cans.. but spend a few minutes over in sporting goods..

they have nothing.. I was going to get some 100 round value pack for my 870.. nothing.. and on top of that.. the price jumped from $23.97 to $26.97 an pack.. back then I used to pay $16.97 an pack..

on top of this.. every place I been to is marking up the price up the arse.. at one place.. they marked up the sig 516's from the msrp of $1800 to $2800..

nothing, huh? dang. theres the odd ammo left here. and a few boxes of .380 auto that I would have grabbed save for the fact I'm not old enough.

That's right folks... You can give me a gun, but I can't buy the ammo for it. Fortunately the Hi-Point functions well in brick mode.

The "terrorists" have won. We are now so conditioned to accept whatever BS the government throws out thanks to the "War" on "Terror" that whatever Obama decides to do will be accepted by half the population, while the other half just works that much harder to hide their guns and ammo.
 
I created a thread in the OT section about this, but thought it might as well be mentioned in this thread as well. A guy named nutnfancy (youtube firearms enthusiast, look him up) has suggested that those who value the 2nd Amendment rally at their respective state capitol buildings on Jan 19th at noon to show support of the 2nd Amendment.

In case you missed it (although I don't know how you could have) the VP of the USA told the media yesterday that they are considering infringing on the 2nd Amendment via executive order...That's a big deal....If you care about your right to bear arms, as well as any right to any kind of freedom whatsoever, it's about time to stand up for it. Peacefully, of course.

The vast majority of gun owners are great people. This could be a great way to show the country that wer'e not lunatics, that there are millions of us, and that this issue is not one that we take lightly.

So dress up, hop in your TR4, head to you state capitol building, and stand up for the principles of the USA as a civil and peaceful person.
 
This was my local firearms dealer a year ago. Now they are completely sold out on assault rifle and just about out of magazine fed handguns. This is about 1/10th of the inventory they keep in the back room and it only shows half the gun wall.

They also sell 22lr sensitive tannerite tennis ball mortars. These are fun.

You will want to replace the factory sights right away, as the factory sights flat out suck. I recommend a tritium front, plain black rear. I like the 10-8 sights, and I would go with the 0.156" notch rear sight. Heinie makes good sights as well.

If you have access to Glock sight tools, you can replace the sights in 10 minutes. Or you can get any gunsmith to do it for you for a few dollars.

you know you can get a 19 barrel and put a 19 mag in your 23, and you will have converted it to a 19... they are the same gun, the barrel may have a little more play or wiggle room but it still shoots straight. -i only say this because i have done this, and put over 500 rounds though it with no issues.

You can. I've heard of reliability issues.
 
not true, the reliability issues come from people who are using cheap aftermarket barrels and the guide ram, or aftermarket mags with bad fallowers... like i said, ive put over 500 rounds though it with not a single issue, i primarily carry a xd40 my 23 is a secondary weapon for me, and so when i did this to try it out all 500+ rounds were shot at the same sitting(i would have done more, but my thumbs were so sore from loading mags i was done). i dont know for sure how many rounds i shot, but i started out with a case, and when i was done there was defiantly less than half left. if you are using Glock mags, and either Glock barrel or a good quality or high end after market barrel then you should be good to go. i had a company in Oregon make my barrel for me, they are also the same company that has made all of my suppressors(this barrel is also threaded, idk maybe that has something to do with it, but i doubt it)
 
How long will it take before this panic buying passes? I'm starting to get irritated about not being able to buy .22 ammo at the local store because Jed Clampett thought he needed to buy it all.
