Anyone checked out the Sig P250? I find the caliber interchangeability a huge selling point. I wouldn't mind DAO only. Thinking about a 9mm compact and later the full size kit in .45

Get to a store and hold/dry fire a DAO a few times. Also see if you can find one at a range or from a friend to shoot. DAOs are not for everyone. I'm not into the long trigger pull.

I've fired it. I think it's an excellent paperweight.
Sig was trying to sell them to our agency and trotted them out at the last armorer training course I attended. I thought the handgrips had way too much "give" to them (personally, I don't think there should be any at all). When you think of a "plastic" weapon, you think of a hard polymer like a Glock - not pieces of plastic that you can actually squeeze.
As to how it performed when firing, I thought it was OK. Nothing bad, but nothing stellar, either. To hear the rep talk, it was the greatest handgun innovation since the 1911. I don't think so.
For the interchangeability feature, that may be a selling point for someone who wants one gun to do multiple things, but they were trying to sell it to us as "look, this can be both a backup and a duty carry gun..." Um...yeah, if you buy two of them.
As I've posted before, I've carried Sigs for years and am not impressed with the recent changes the company has gone through or the flaws I'm finding on weapons newly-issued to our folks. My 10-year-old P229 is fine, but I won't be trading it in anytime soon (unless it was for a Glock).

I've heard similar quality concerns about SIG lately. The Massachusetts State Police had used SIG for quite a while, but dumped them in the last year or so, due to quality problems. What I've heard secondhand is that a significant number of the guns were broken straight out of the box.
As for the 250, I've heard nothing good about it.
I've bought and sold a 239 and 226. They were accurate and reliable guns, but I just didn't like them. Both have a high bore axis. The 239 felt top heavy in my hands. The 226 grip circumference was just a bit too big for me - the short trigger might have helped that.
Finally, though, I just don't like DA/SA. The SIG DAK trigger gets rid of the transition, but each trigger pull is long and the reset is long. As crappy as the Glock trigger is, I prefer it over DA/SA or DAK.
If you really want DA/SA, get a CZ. They have a much lower bore axis.

love the thread, very informative. my gift to myself last year for my 30th bday, love it been a great gun to shoot and easy to carry (Taurus PT145):
been looking into a rifle for my next purchase just not sure what to get other than what's I'm comfortable shooting. Would love an AR or possibly a nice bolt action.

Very nice! I have owned a couple of Taurus's throughout the years and find them to be pretty underrated. They were never anything but great for me. As far as a sporting rifle/AR, you may want to wait a little while until all the yahoo's and crazies finish buying the market dry and jacking the prices to the sky

got my siaga 12 parts in to covert it to a 'us made' gun for 922r compliance
15-6=9 so I am good to go.
And no the mag is NOT inserted in the gun in this picture. This gun is for 'sporting purposes' in present form. Its absolutely the most ridiculous gun I've held.

Well got her all stripped, and painted. I did it in the living room while watching Frank and Robot. I realized a bit late I didnt have the trigger guard I ordered. Didn't get in the box it seems, so now I am having to wait a week to finish.
Got the trigger, forarm on, low brass spring, choke and the puck in. I guess that's it for this week.

I hear those are a lot of fun. Maybe not at arctic temperatures though :smow:
So here is a list of guns I'm trying to buy when the market returns to normal. Any thoughts, advice or recommendation on these? The only gun I currently have in my name is a 10/22, but it's time to expand the armory. My long term goal is to own this entire list:
1) Glock 19 (Just want a solid, reliable 9mm, might possibly CC this)
2) M4, SIG 556 or possibly SCAR (Need an AR, might save up for the SCAR)
3) Remington 11-87 Police 12 ga. (For home defense, also fun to shoot!)
4) .22 Pistol (Hear Buckmark and Ruger are excellent in this category)
5) 1911 (Fell in love with a Springfield 1911. This is my dream pistol)
6) M1 Garand (Not sure why, but this gun has always intrigued me for it's reliable reputation, as well as it being considered the weapon that won WWII)
