I would invest in a green laser if you want sights on your firearm though. Red are useless in daylight and are far less powerful overall.

Thanks! I like how compact it is. I don't need a flashlight or anything like that. I just want a basic lazer, I agree with green as well. It is much easier to see.

Dang that is pretty sweet, but it sure is pricey, was looking on calguns and someone suggest the armalaser stingray. looks really low pro might have to pick it up once i get my tax return haha

Why the panic buying? Seems to be human nature. Think of the rapid Hostess bakery closure. Absolute insanity. This is nothing different... people are afraid all guns will be lost forever, and some see the profit within that fear.
REALITY CHECK:
1) Say they manage to pass a bill that bans the production of assault style weapons (doubtful). People may lose out on their backordered rifles that, due to current demand, will not be completed until some time within the next 18 months. Once that happens, pre-ban weapons could potentially double in cost- an AR that is easily sold at $1600 today, could easily sell for $3000. I find that to be the biggest fear.
2) Say they manage to impose an ammunition tax. That $15 box of 22lr becomes a $17 box of 22lr. Right now, these same boxes of 22lr are being sold for upwards of $60 in private sales! That's a 400% increase in cost!
3) High capacity magazines, which are anything over ten rounds, will not be sold to anyone other than law enforcement and military personnel if such a bill passes. Guess what? You could still buy them, just not directly from the manufacturer. They WILL NOT be permanently banned.
4) Say Government calls for a personal background check on every weapons purchase, privately or via FFL. It would only be something like a $10 charge that you could run at home. That's fair, and the revenue from the accompanying firearms sales tax would likely pay for the updated database. Background checks are currently ridiculous anyway. You could have been in an insane asylum for a good chunk of your life, and they wouldn't know it. Just check the box indicating that you have never been admitted to a mental institution and they would be none the wiser.
My input to the solution? Make medical records available to the BCI, and no other third parties. Also make personal background checks a requirement for any firearms sales. It may be a tad bit of an invasion of privacy if you want to go that far, but just like having to register each vehicle in use, it makes sense. It makes it a whole lot harder for a firearm to end up in the wrong hands and ruin it for the rest of us.
why the rant? because today was supposed to be our ****in first range day but we have no ammo, and if it is available, it is being rationed at three boxes per person per caliber per day.

It is simple supply and demand. People are afraid that in a few months things that they might want will be banned. So they are buying them. People who never owned a gun before are buying one. Gun owners who never owned an AR15 are buying one. Gun owners who owned an AR15 are buying a couple more. And all of them are buying (or trying to buy) a dozen standard capacity magazines and a couple cases of ammo.
In 5 days, Brownells sold more PMags than they expected to sell in 3 years. The mail order place where I usually buy reloading components is working overtime, has hired temp workers, and is still three weeks behind in processing orders.
The demand for guns, ammo, reloading components, and magazines has increased dramatically. Supply can't be increased quickly or cheaply, as factories don't have a lot of unused capacity. As a result, prices have gone up significantly and inventories are nil.
There is nothing nefarious going on here, just supply and demand.

I also think its simply an excuse for big boys to buy toys they always wanted anyway.
As far as ammo goes, remember, controlling ammo is a back-door means of gun control. Some are worried that ammo will be severely taxed, or certain calibers will be banned all together. It lasts years, so if you're a recreational shooter, why not stock up now while it's cheap. If no law ever passes, you can still use it......no loss.

Going through my ammo storage cans to recharge the silica gel packs and came across these price tags. All this talk about ammo prices and availability I figured you guys would get a kick out of these prices. $10.99 for a brick of 500 .22 lr's and $11.97 for a box of Federal 7mm Rem Mag.
BTW, those were bought somewhere in the early 80's, like 81 or 82.

Well this might have been a bust. I got my shipment today and it only included my .45. Calling them now..
Update: I spoke to a customer service rep. She said that the 9mm and .223 is on back-order with no estimated arrival date. The .40 and 12g is shipping from one of their other stores this week sometime. I asked why the website doesn't indicate stock issues and she said they don't update the ammo section with availability. wtf.... sorry guys. If you placed an order for back-ordered items and don't want to wait you can call and cancel. Otherwise it will just sit in limbo until the stock arrives.

Turner's has people coming in every day checking for new ammo stock so check frequently, and check often. Also, ranges will usually only let you purchase their ammo to use at their range, but you could probably grab a few bags, do a little target practice, then save the rest to take home.
I might shoot the ranges ammo until this blows over rather than depleting my supply. I have a few thousand rounds saved up but that doesn't last all that long especially if you hit the range on a weekly basis.
