I was at my local range picking up some guns I had shipped there and while waiting for the paperwork to go through, 3 people came in for the range but they didn't have any 22LR, 9mm, or 45 and all three people left because they had nothing to shoot. I recommended they put in a dart board. :laugh:

I was thinking the same thing.... I think i will wait till this Blows over as well. I just hope it isn't too late by then. I only shoot my 22's now on a weekly basis. I shoot my .223 only in outside ranges during the warm weather.
I dont see a run on ammo like George Baileys Bank... perhaps it's only because like i said i shoot my .22 more often. I'm sure if i decide to get me some .223 it might be a diffrent story.
I have .38,9mm,.380 for pistol cal's. I have always keep a fair ammount of that on hand. I just hope this whole situation does not get any worse. I love to shoot. I dont have the room to store Ammo like alot of you guys.. wish i did though.. Just what i'm thinking is all..
Lets hope all of us responsible gun owners get through this situation. I cannot believe the number of people whom i thought i knew who hate guns.. it does not make for a comfy chat at the dinner table... Politically, i am JUST to left of right... ANYTHING to the right of center in my family is Taboo..

I'm pretty sure I've won every debate about firearms I've jumped into, but I still look like an a-hole in the end. I don't really care though... leave my hobby (and rights) alone.

This supply and demand thing is getting out of hand though... if the prices get any higher i'll just stick with the one AR i have and forget about owning another and call it a day at the range. I do feel sorry for the folks who have always wanted one and now are "forced" to buy one now or forever hold their piece. I do think(hope) that this will all blow over and folks who think they have gold with be lowering their prices back to normal.
I have been offered $1500-$2200 for my $1200 Bushie I declined... it means more to me than an extra few dollars...

I think if everyone were to team up so to say and hold on to ammo they have, perhaps take a weekend or two off from the ranges, and boycott the higher prices of ammo you would see the prices go down faster.
Personally I believe any retailer will sale there products at the highest market value possible. If I can get away with selling .40's for 35 bucks for 50 rounds then I'm going to continue selling them for that price until enough customers decide its to high of a price and i begin to loose sales.
will this happen? no not likely but i feel its a good thought as long as people continue to purchase over priced items the items will remain over priced. It's just good business.

That was my problem... I've been meaning to pick up an AR, AK, and Saiga 12g for a year or so now but stuff kept coming up and I figured I'd wait until after we moved. But then the talk of the ban came about and there are no good deals to be found for now.

it's all supply and demand, the ban talks just made millions of Americans run out and start stockpiling a bunch of weapons and ammo whom would have never done so before, that said though i'm seeing more and more come back on the market , i picked up 500 rounds of brass 5.56 the other day for $190...i heard on the news the other day that gun sales are down along with request for background checks and ccw licensees ..by 12% i think it was..which means either the scare is blowing over or every American in the country who wanted a gun now has one thanks to the fear mongering, kind of funny if you think about it..
i'm just like you bofa, just starting my collection and was just going to pick one or two up when the opportunity arises, then all of this crap started happening and now i feel like i'm scrambling to get my few dream rifles together before the hammer drops, it's not like i want to stock pile weapons or anything, there's just a few guns i really want to shoot and own for my personal pleasure beyond anything else...the real problem is i'm soo new to this i haven't had a chance to even hold some of the rifles i've been dreaming about.....so what do? Do i just go out and buy them all? or sit back and hope i can get a chance to shoot a few of them and maybe pick one of the 4~5 i want up before the ban happens if it happens...this whole things sucks...why can't life and people ever just be normal? gah!
the funniest part the one rifle i know i want right this second i can't afford..that scar was amazing! my buddies girl shooting the beast...i want one...

Yeah, I just made a list of things to keep an eye out for... once things settle I'll be scouting for people unloading their impulse purchases. SCAR is one of them... as is FAL and probably a dozen other guns. I might as well get them together, that way next time the only thing I'll need to worry about is ammo, and I may grab some reloading stuff on the cheap too as it quiets down.
I have noticed this ban talk has died down lately, although every headline I read regarding a shooting refers to Sandy Hook in the last paragraph. Good grief.

I think the decrease in gun sales and background checks are more attributed to the lack of firearms availability. Also, everyone's bills are coming in from the previous month so a few are realizing that they spent beyond their means. I'm seeing alot more "NIB" AR's hitting the market nowadays.

^ Agree, even cheap semi-autos are hard to come by. I think the possibility of the AWB extended to larger cap handguns or even anything with a removable mag caused some serious hysteria. The only things that seem to be plentiful are low cap rifles, shotguns, and revolvers. Mmmm... Raging Judge. :usa:

I think that goes for everyone. Life gets in the way of our hobbies. :AK47: I'm helping a few friends build their first AR's and encouraging them to just be patient and get on as many "email me when it's back in stock" lists as possible. I was able to pick up some items at pre-panic prices doing just that.
A lot of shops have been just stripped bare. Semi-auto rifles -- all gone. Most semi-auto pistols -- all gone. Anything semi-auto that arrives at the shop already has dozens of people on a waiting list for it.

What really sucks is for people like me that have paid the class fee for ammunition (about $160 for both classes this semester) and it will all go to waste because we can't get any. I want my fee back!
