After being on order for nearly a year, my tool box finally arrived.:frog:

Amazing what can fit in an unassuming tool box. LaRue PredatObr 7.62, 16.1". It was surprisingly easy to assemble (less then a minute) once unrolled from the tool pouch. I wish the can was mine but it was just a loaner.

I shot a steel match yesterday. On guy was running mixed range ammo thru his SV open in 9 major. The very expensive gun was not a fan!

I was at the Texas Precision Rifle Club monthly match on Saturday, so I had to skip the NTMG steel match, but I will be at ETTS next weekend for the multigun match... gotta get ready for the STI Texas match in April

I also acquired some 10 round Lancer Systems ADVANCED WARRIOR MAGAZINES for 5 bucks each at the bargain bin of a local gun store (what a deal!). They're translucent... for some reason. And the wife loves them in her m400... for some reason. I think it's because they require less of a slam home to seat properly.

I always ask her if they make her feel like an ADVANCED WARRIOR when she shoots her AR. She's five feet tall and 90 pounds, so it's extra amusing.

A 9mm Springfield is cheaper than a CZ (either get the Loaded or the RO).

It will also shoot as well as the CZ.

The CZ has some advantages. The double-stack magazines are easier to get into that big magazine well than threading a single-stack magazine into a 1911. Magwells on a 1911 help, but I find I'm still slower and more fumble-prone than with tapered double-stack magazines.

Another advantage of the CZ is that its slide is small and light, so you get little sight disturbance as the slide cycles.

I sold some guns back in the early 90's which seemed like a good idea at the time. A couple of them I really really regret, an HK93 rifle and a Browning Hi Power pistol. If I had a Mr. Fusion powered DeLorean, I'd go back and correct those mistakes. Since then I've adopted a "No Sell" policy and keep every gun regardless if I shoot them or not. [MENTION=24995]SV_Dude[/MENTION] even if you decide to get something else, hang on to that HK.

I'm probably forgetting some. There's more that I've been procrastinating selling -- my second M1 Garand, Russian SKS, Russian Mosin Nagant 44. All those are doing is taking up room in my safes. I'd rather put that money into optics.

I've got two Garands. One is a CMP that I got during the Clinton administration -- I just loved that Bill Clinton's government was sending me a rifle through the US Postal Service. My other Garand has unknown provenance and the stock has been sporterized. I don't need two Garands. ETA: if it isn't obvious, I'll keep the CMP Garand.

I never warmed up to the SKS. I haven't shot it more than a couple times, and haven't shot it in the last 15 years. I've got a couple AKs and those are more interesting to me than the SKS.

I also never warmed up to the Mosin Nagant M44. Lots of flash, lots of recoil, unusable safety. And it has those tiny open sights that my tired old eyes just can't use. Like the SKS, it hasn't been out of the safe in 15 years.

One of my wheeling buddies (be easy on him, he's a jeep guy) has a hi-point. It's his home defense pistol and he asked me to take a look at it for him. The darn thing has only had about 50 rounds through it and now it won't even extract rounds. It's a 9mm and bulky as crap.

Total pieces of junk. I would rather have a sling shot.

exactly. my throwing arm isn't what it used to be.

I think the if the slide was HALF as heavy, it might cycle properly. also, they were new, and DRY as shit inside. I lubed them up good, which did help SLIGHTLY. but there were still WAY too many failures, of every kind. you couldn't empty a mag without multiple failures. that's just DANGEROUS.
