I had no trouble what so ever transitioning from a Glock to the HK. It's in the right spot and it's a natural movement to release the magazine. It's also 100% ambidextrous, both magazine and slide stop.

Greetings fellow shooters! I got bored in the 4th gen section, so I figured I'd venture to other parts of T4R.org and see what was being discussed. I have been shooting for over 25 years and my tastes have changed dramatically when it comes to handguns. In my early twenties, I was all about DA polymer guns. My fave was HK USP in .40 and .45. Now, I suppose I've become a bit of a snob. I have gotten rid of all my DA's and now ONLY carry and shoot 1911's. I'm not knocking DA's or polymers. It's just that somewhere along the way, I became fascinated with pistolsmithing and the precision of hand-fitting barrels, ejector/extractor, slide to frame, checkering, etc, and most of all, accuracy. I own several 1911's, but my favorites are STI/SVI hi-cap modulars. Are any of you familiar with these?

I convinced the wife to go to a range with me for my birthday and we were already headed to Manitou and I found the place online. They have a pretty decent outdoor range (yet relatively short). The shop has good prices on guns from what I saw, not much in the way of ammo choices, but a mini-museum of militaria and older arms. The entrance was awesome... you'll have to drive out there to see it if you haven't already.

Never been there. All the pictures I have seen of the shop and the range make the place look cluttered. They aren't very safe there from what I have heard. I do most of my shooting at the cheyenne mtn shooting complex.

The shop is definitely cluttered. The range wasn't bad at all though... although it was the middle of a week day, so maybe it's crazier on weekends. The range officer seemed to do a decent job. I was a little disappointed they didn't have any 357 sig and said they haven't for almost 2 years. I will give Cheyenne Mtn a try next time.

Here's my new plinker/steel shooter. The best part: I can afford to shoot it, with .22 at like $.03 a round I'm loving this more than I thought I ever would. It's a S&W M&P 15-22

Love mine too.. it's a blast to shoot and the only rifle my wife will willingly pick up at the range. Tacticooling them out for sh!ts and giggles is almost obligatory. What is the bent trigger spring mod?

15 Minute Practical Trigger Job for the AR-15

It takes down the breaking point to about 3-4 lbs instead of the heavy factory trigger pull. I've loved it so far and have not had any FTF's. They are definitely a good time, plus I can spend a ton of time on the range and my wallet doesn't hurt

[MENTION=89791]preacher35[/MENTION] I've traveled a similar path. For over 25 years I've favored polymer pistols. I've carried various models of Glocks as a sidearm over the years. My CCW is an HK P2000SK V1 and the Glock 22 has its uses. So polymers still have a place in the tool box, but nowadays I prefer 1911's. No other pistol can match the feel and the crisp trigger of a finely tuned 1911.

Picked up my latest today a Smith Wesson 500 with the 8 3/8" barrel.


Another one that wont be sold here after June30th.

My 15 year old wants to use it for a hog hunt.

Man, that is so beautiful! I'm not sure I could shoot that because I wouldn't want to get it dirty, but I'm willing to bet that is a sweet shooter!

Anyone have experience upgrading from a Citori 625 to the 725? I've heard/read nothing but good things about the 725, but unlike our Runners, I can't exactly take one for a test drive at the range.

Looks like a pretty significant ruling in reaffirming 2A in our nation's capitol. Should be entertaining watching the antis' reaction to this. Russia invading the Ukraine, shooting civilian jetliners out of the sky, Hamas raining down thousands of missiles on Israel couldn't pull obama off his fund raising vacation.
