As to be expected and welcomed so I hope they do. Cases like this and Peruta, et al. v. County of San Diego need to be heard by the U.S. Supreme Court to settle this matter nationwide. It doesn't affect me since my CCW allows me to carry in all U.S. territories including DC (with some exceptions). But in a nation currently taking multiple steps in the wrong direction at least it's a step in the right direction. :thumb:

Retired city LEO. HR218 (LEOSA) signed into law by George W. Bush in 2004.
I wish you could carry in DC an MD too. Hopefully that will be the case soon as rulings like the one in DC and San Diego make it up to the SCOTUS.

Was wondering how you pulled that off. We have a ski house in Utah so my CCW is from there and it allows me to carry in 17 states but not here in Cal. My appointment for Cal is in a scant 2.5 years :wtf:

For real though, which one sees more instances where they are shooting armored combatants ?...I would think the military, right?
FBI, I would think runs into more cases where a 9mm would probably be suffecent enough. Also, more so then not the FBI would be in a situation where it's just a few agents, not a larger group such as the military, so I could see them wanting more rounds available.

The US Army has held competitions for replacements for the M9s (and also for the M16/M4) for years and nothing has ever come of it. I expect the same result this time -- nothing will change and the US Army will still be issuing M9s and M11s.

That is just nuts, this must be an Administrative decision as none of the field guys want 9's. Just 15 years ago the FBI flipped back to the 1911 and the .45. Maybe they need to do something with the Quintillion of 9mm rounds that all of the agencies have been buying for the past 2 years.
The Army does have a current petition going on and it is interesting what is be evaluated.

It is just not going to happen.
First, pistols are just not an important arm for the military. It is a secondary weapons system that is seldom used unless the primary fails.
Second, the cost to change calibers would be huge. The cost to change guns would also be great.
As for a 2011, I disagree very strongly. As much as I like 1911s, they are heavy, expensive, and not as reliable as they should be. In the unlikely event that they change guns, there are plenty of better choices (Glock for one).

Guess I never thought about what the worker bees carried for the FBI, the guys I shot with were HRT, 1 of the Guys shot a Glock 21 from a drop leg holster and was unbelievably fast, sub 7 seconds for 10 Bowling Pins at 21 feet.
I don't know why you say that. They certainly have contracts with other countries' armed forces and I believe that we have supplied Glocks to other countries' military and police agencies as well. In addition, some of our special ops guys use Glocks.
But there are certainly other good options as well, including S&W M&P, FN, HK. Even SIG has finally brought out a striker-fired gun.
I love 1911s and 2011s but any of the above would be a better choice as a service gun for the masses.
Standard issue for the FBI is Glock 23. As mentioned above, HRT and SWAT get 1911s.
