with 30 rounds mags.. 600 rounds aren't going to last..
but with cali, the 10 rounds mags, i might be able to squeeze a little more play time lol..
if I had more $$, i probably would have brought a case of it..
for $0.40 cent an round.. is hard to beat.. if the 5.56 were the same price, i would probably clean them out.. but the 5.56 were $14 an box.. and even with the 20% off, it was too pricey.. most of the 5.56 are about $0.35-$0.40 an round..

wait, you got 7.62 for $.40/rd in CA?!
if I find it for $.80 or less I buy it. $.40 is just crazy.

Here is my CMMG 762x51. It was a steal at 1200 bucks.
Put a Magpul stock on it, MBUS, and Vortex 4-16x.
I don't have a permit for elk hunting this year, so this sumbich will just be putting holes in paper.
Congrats! how does it compare to the the RA308?

The fit and finish is surprisingly great, they just didn't stake the gas key--which left me with some work to do before shooting it.
The RA308 is over 1 grand more and looks the part, but both will group about 3.5-4" at 300 yards, which is pretty damn nice.

so for the past weeks.. I have been to the range 4 times and put about 500 rounds through the bcm.. and needless to say, I'm pleased with the results.. I had one issue where the casing was stuck but other than that.. is been flawless..
these past 2 weeks, I have been to the range more times than I have in the 1st 6 months of this year..

my question is though..
has anyone ran steel case ammo through there ar? cause, they have spam cans of .223 at wally world for $119..
I figure, for plinking it wouldn't be idea.. I rather save my brass case for carbine class.. cause at $4 dollars and some change for 20 rounds.. is alot cheaper than buying brass.. and on top of that, if my ar can't run steel case ammo.. there is some serious issues there.

i haven't done it personally, as I do not own an AR, that said..
ive read a LOT about it, and I see no reason why it would be an issue. the steel in the rifle is much harder than the steel case. there are many guns out there that have shot many thousands of steel cased ammo, and are still functioning just fine.
for the amount you would be using, and at the cycle rate, even IF there was some accelerated wear, it would be so insignificant you wouldn't ever know about it.

Steel cases (which are a mix of steel and copper jacket) will wear out your barrel faster. Lucky gunner did a test.
This isn't a huge issue for pistols, rifles are a different animal due to the much greater forces involved.
