Are these steel core? I've been getting these at wall-mart for about 46 cent a round 150rd box for 69.99

there are a few companies out there that make green tip rounds that are not steel core. If it does not say steel or solid core, it is not. I have never gotten any green tip rounds (other than surplus military) that were not labeled as solid core. the ones you showed a picture of just use the green tip for marketing.


EDIT: I just noticed that the box you have a picture of says "XM855" which is interesting because the steel core round number is M855...... Perhaps someone else can chime in that knows for sure.

I've been under the impression they were green tipped for "looks" as well. The article mentioning the M855 made me question just what am I target shooting with lol.

I wish we could see inside the lead. On the steel core it goes steel, led, then jacket. But you would have to remove the lead to see if the small core of steel was inside.

its my understanding that silver cone on the left IS the steel core.
lead would have deformed, and not released from the copper jacket so cleanly.

if you read on the link, he describes when he hits the steel, "difficult to cut"

Yea, sorry, I did not read the discription at first. The NATO rounds have a different shaped steel core, but this is good to know.

i had 2 cases of independence 5.56 shipped to my house for $309 an case. now is $400 an case..

this is ridiculous.. over all calguns, half the ***** are selling for double of what it cost..

I have no idea if that's a good price or not, I own nothing in that caliber.... nor do I know what you mean by a "case". but that site seems to have decent prices on other things I checked.

a case is 1000 rounds..

when I was talking to my mate the other day.. we were looking at 1k of 9's and 1k of 5.56.. it was $534 dollars for it out the door..

now is $400 just for the 5.56 and $240 for the 9's..

don't you have trouble finding ammo for it. I love my 380 as well , but could never find ammo for it.

i found the same. I do have quite a bit, but stopped buying it, because its too expensive. almost as much as my .40.
