Been competing for a little over 2 years now. It's highly addicting...you'll love it. Best advice is to shoot a couple of matches and try other people's gear before you start buying any equipment. Most competitors are happy to help out beginners in the sport. Shot my first match with a 14.5" with a T-1, Rem 870 and a PPQ.

Here is the setup I shot this summer:

Anyone have a Mossberg MVP Patrol? I saw them and thought it was a neat concept... bolt action that accepts ar-15 magazine.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone have any experience with an AK 74? I was looking to keep my Mosin M44 company with another Russian comrade, and was looking at 47's. I'm a small guy, so someone turned me on to the idea of a 74.

I really like the "idea" of them, but ideally I'd want real wood furniture on it and not black plastic. It looks like it's still affordable to shoot, but I'm still not exactly sure where I can find one in the Denver area to check out in person and maybe even take for a test run at a range.

Still being a bit of a firearms newb, thought I'd ask around!

Check you local class III ranges (places that allow full auto), probably your best bet unless you know someone.

A few fun things showed up today from Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Still missing a couple things and need consumables, but reading and workbench construction will have to come before really getting started.

Congratulations on scoring the best single stage press on the market (IMHO).:) Having both the Forster Co Ax and RCBS RockChucker, I mainly use the Co Ax. I reload mostly 458 Socom, 308 Win and 300 Blackout but recently jumped into handgun rounds with 44 Rem Mag. Something you might want to consider is the short roller lever from Inline Fab. Its more ergonomically comfortable, which you'll really appreciate after several hundred rounds.:D Ever since installing it, I've never used the standard or short lever again. A build I did a few years ago.

Mega Arms upper/lower
WMD NiB bolt carrier
BCM barrel
Surefire muzzle brake
Fortis Rev rail
Spikes heavy buffer

I need to get back into this hobby and get me a nice 308 bolt action I can build.

Sig Sauer DMR .716

One of a few AR's...
This one has an upgraded MagPul PRS .308 stock and buffer, Seekins Prescion compensator, Vortex HD scope, Harris Bipod (not the standard issue), LaRue Tactical 30mm scope rings & mount, (BLK Rubber) Magpul pistol grip, Magpul forearm grip, and X-Products skeletonized drum (not show).

Took my 308 and my 556 SPR out to the mountains to stretch them out on black friday (full size ipsc targets at 1005 and 612, 50% ipsc flapper target at 325).

IPSC target at 1000 yards (7/10 hits).

The highlight of my day was a 2nd round hit on a spray paint can at 1000 yards.

Virginia Attorney General "Herring" officially nuked VA's CCW permit reciprocity... He single-handedly decided to revoke VA's reciprocity agreement with 25 states...

Not sure how to reverse a dumb decision like that...
