Came here looking for an off-road truck, and was pleasantly surprised to see a bunch of gun stuff in the first couple pages of off topic.

I guess I shouldn't really be surprised, but it definitely makes a guy feel at home.

My Ruger precision rifle has officially been replaced. I picked up my new competition rifle up on Thursday built by Ken at H&H Precision rifles here in WA.

As part of their service, before they release the rifle to the customer, Ken meets you at the range (if you're local) and shoots groups to prove it's accuracy. We were able to shoot a .284" group at 100 yards.

Spent yesterday doing load development. Results are promising.

I'm a 9mm guy, even have 9mm AR and revolver. My brother thinks 9mm is for girls and skinny-jean wearing hipsters. To each their own.

personally I prefer the .40. I feel its a perfect balance.

as said above, 9mm is cheaper. however, the last few times I shopped for ammo, there was a LOT of .40 available, and little to no 9mm. so while it may be cheaper, the price doesn't really matter much if there isn't any for sale...

initially I was looking at the new sigp220. but id rather have a double stack. also, since its not going to be a carry piece, id want a 6" as well.

but damn, that sig is a good looking piece!

Have a buddy who loves his S&W 1076 in 10mm. He reloads for 10mm since ammo is harder to come by, hence loads light and solves most of the issues. I remember it as a powerful but smooth shooter, heavy in the hand.

Yeah, I used to be a .40 guy, but I'm now a 9mm guy (again). A few years ago I gave the .40 a shot. With good ammo these days, the gap between .40 and 9mm+p is minimal. Not to mention that's not even the reason I carry it either. I prefer 9mm because no matter how you argue, you will always shoot better with a 9mm than a .40 (and .45). If you ask me, what's more important? Stopping power or accurate fire?

I don't currently have either a 9mm or a .40
I do have an umphhhhh gun (12G short barrel pump)
I don't think 9mm is "weak"...just seems to be the most common thing to have or people to talk about and I'm not always interested in "going with the grain"
It's also going to be a new bedroom piece (reason for the compact, but don't like how small the sub compact is) so I want it to be accurate if needed and my wife to not get too much kick from it..
Ammo price difference not that big of a gap, especially when buying in small wholesale ammounts and I do see a lot of .40 available

Wish somewhere local (with a range) had them both in stock that I could shoot.
Everywhere seems to be able to get one or is just a store and not a range. I have another 60 days at least...honestly I think I'm going to get an M&P AR this week in the mean time to satisfy that itch for now.. :sniper:

Thinking about getting a first handgun, Springfield XD Mod 2 9mm 5" or maybe 4". Not new to shooting, just never bought a handgun yet. Anyone have this and have any comments, pros/cons? Checked out a lot of brands and models at a recent show and this feels like the a good choice for me. Mostly interested in target shooting.

I bought a Glock 20 Gen 4 last fall, I've only fired 1 box of ammo through it so far so I can't offer any real insight on it besides that I pulled the trigger 20 times and it went boom 20 times with no issues. It's the full size with the double stacked 15 round magazines.

i have heard good things about them also. though, they are discontinued, and seem to bring a premium price.

how was the recoil? did you shoot full power rounds, or were they the fbi(reduced power) loads?


i know that the 10mm isn't a very popular cartridge, but im glad that its coming back around. i stopped to get gas on my way out of town a few weeks ago, they sold ammo there. haha. and had some 10mm in stock. sweet!
