If I were you, I would go Glock 19 with TRUGLO sights. Easy to carry, way more fun to shoot than the S&W at the range and great for home defense.

Are Gen 5 17's CA compliant?? I have to move to the East coast for work...picking a location I want to live in that is on the same page as my gun collection is more than challenging.

I believe the Gen 5 17's are not on the CA roster, there for no longer able to be sold brand new.
Check this site out.
But from what I know, you are able to to bring it from out of state or obtain a gen 5 17 from a PPT. So getting my hands on one and being able to shoot it will be hard.
Edit:
If you want to move out of state with guns, California should be one of your last options... LOL

So, for my birthday, my wife will give me any pistol I want (within reason of course)!!! Awesome, right? And she doesn't even shoot!

Anyways, about a year of just Glocks (19, 22 and 34) - I decided to go with the H&K USP Expert in .45ACP:
Well, immediately after Komiefornia's 10-day wait, I took it to the local La Puente Firing Range.
I have decided to take my first shots at 25-yards using CCI Blazer Brass 230GR. Here were my groups (black area is 5.5-inches in diameter):

Dang~! I love this pistol... Very accurate! Good recoil control! Reportedly is more reliable and not ammo picky like a 1911 (I have the SA Marine Corps Operator)! And with more flexible configurations - DA/SA, decocker, safety, cocked and locked (not like my Beretta PX4 Storm), etc. this may be my primary HD pistol~~~ Woot...!!! :gun4:
Now, how am I to get a huge supply of .45ACPs at a "reasonable" cost with Sacramento's Ammo Ban!?! *ugh* [emoji20] (I mostly loaded up my inventory in 9s).
Anyways, after a few more rounds, this is what happened to that target. I love the big holes that .45ACP does~~~ :biggrin2:

Yes!! I shot it on black Friday as a matter of fact. my brother, who is waiting for it to be issued to his as his side arm wanted to try it out and perhaps because I live in the state it is made we were able to work that out. I highly recommend it over going to the mall for the day after thanksgiving. sort of a tradition for us.

That's cool. It seems like they are harder to come by over on my side of town. I look forward to seeing one in person. I hope that they can sort out all of the first batch issues.

it shot like any other high quality 9mm I've ever shot, or like any other sig I've ever shot. I have a buddy who has a sig 9mm he got in I wanna say 2014 didn't really seem that different to me. Bro is excited for it and Sig's facility here in NH is a sight to behold so it was fun just to go. they have an amazing academy, the only civilian training facilities I've seen where you can learn to clear a building for example.

I have a S&W shield that I carry, my problem is the holster. I had a cheap one and got rid of it immediately. Then bought the targas leather one and while it’s much better I’m still not too comfortable with it. I carry on my right hip on my belt. I don’t like inside the waistband holsters. I guess I’m looking for a holster like the targas one but just not leather. Does anyone have any suggestions?
