$4 for ammo isn't horrible at all. Even his firearm fee is $40. Way better than anyone else in my area.

Just realized I have bought some ammo from him in the past when he has had my calibers, issue is, like everywhere, it's hard to come by, and little shops like him don't get them as often, at least that's what I assume.

When he has what I need I always buy from him. All of my firearm purchases have been through him.
 
Chiming in as a very-seldom-shooter, but very pro-gunner. It's discouraging to hear that ammo simply can't be got very easily, in any caliber. I know many of you have your routes and means, but I'm referring to retail, my local gun shop type thing. Is this simply because manufacturers can't keep up with demand? If so, have any of them begun to build additional manufacturing capacity? For the past several years, it seems that there's been an ongoing shortage. I would think that if a company increased its manufacturing capacity, the costs would be offset very quickly by sales in today's environment.

I find myself at a point where I want to arm up my family, but it seems we would have a hard time getting enough ammo to become proficient. I know I'm a bit late to the game, but am curious what others think about this.

Good question. I notice the bigger shops tend to have more in stock more frequently than my smaller shop does. I'm not sure if this is done based of a minimum amount of ordering or something else.

I know my shop guy used to be able to order whatever he wanted from Aero, but I believe he said he now has to make a minimum of $1,000+ purchase in order to get something from them.

As far as the manufacturer side. It sounds as if they are just overloaded. I've heard something like they have rounds sold that haven't even been made yet, and they don't anticipate catching up until possibly winter. With people panicking over gun laws possibly going into effect I would imagine it'll last into at least next year, if not longer.

I make it a habit to check out the gun stores every time I'm out and near one. A few times I have scored ammo. However most of the time I've come up empty handed.

you just answered your own question. Since the plandemic and mostly peaceful protests, millions just like you started buying. Ammo is out there, but in limited quantities and it's not getting cheaper. Manufacturers are going round the clock, but most raw materials come from over seas and that's all been delayed because of... Drum roll please... COVID. Manufacturers try to spread what they produce, but their larger buyers will of course get a bigger cut (like the fed and state governments). They can't be expected to invest large amounts of capital for what is most likely a limited supply issue.

I get you. I haven’t bought any ammo in years, but hope to buy both guns and ammo in the near future. I’ll just need to be patient. Thanks.

After 9 months I received my Galil ARM back from Jeff Miller at Hillbillyfirearms. Matching # Galil ARM kit from APEX, Original 18.5" IMI chrome-line barrel (NOS virgin), dual lightening cuts on the Tortort receiver, laser engraved IDF Hebrew markings, and a complete salt bath nitriding finish.

Thanks - have you bought through that site? It's refreshing to see things that are actually available to purchase because I am running into a lot of Out Of Stock. It is like an eBay for guns or are there new firearms as well? I registered - I'll look more closely.

Edit - the FFL fee is off-putting but I guess I'm just new to online purchasing.

Has anyone had any dealings with dryfireltd.com? If so, did you actually receive their product ... in a timely mater? Did it work? Sounded great, but I wish I had read read the comments on FaceBook.

Sorry for the slow reply. I've probably bought 20+ guns off of gunbroker over the years. I have a couple preferences when using GB.

1. Seller must take a credit card. Dealing with Postal Money Orders is not worth it to me.
2. Seller must state shipping amount. Shipping can easily kill a deal on there for me.
3. Seller needs to have good feedback. I read their negative feedbacks to see what I'm dealing with. I've only left 1 F feedback for a dealer that listed an item for sale but didn't have the item in stock.

4. Seller must have the item in stock. If they have a gun shop, I'll google their shops name and call them to make sure it's in stock.

Gunbroker has a good FFL finder.

This is handy as you might find some small coffee table dealers that work from home and charge less in transfer fees. $10 to $20 is normal for my rural area of Missouri. $20 to $50 was normal in the Chicago burbs where I used to live.

Good points. The FFL fees have gotten insane here in NJ. Upwards of $100 or more. My M&P9 I got off gunbroker and they had listed a little hole in the wall gun shop that literally was around the corner from my old office and I never knew it was there. Just a door with a number on it in the back of a building. They charged me $20 and were great.
