Oh boy did I **** up. advice needed.

I'm installing a RS3200 in my runner. The install calls for a splice in the wire of a 40 pin connector. The 40 pin connector was not connected to anything, but I had to splice two wires from that 40pin connector to the RS3200 40 pin connector to connect to the alarm ECU. One of the wires I was supposed to splice accidentally ripped away from the original 40 pin connector. Do I still stick in the splice? It ripped to close to the connector to resolder it. Did I just **** up my runner? I don't see why I wouldn't just splice it anyway...the 40 pin connector wasn't attached to anything in the first place... shouldn't it still just bypass to the new connector? ...but I don't know. ANY advice appreciates.

If the 40 pin connector is not plugged in to anything don't worry just splice on to the end of the wire that broke off too close to the connector you don't need the connector present to make it work.

Thank you Dr. I definitely was sweating bullets. But my alarm is now installed, and everything appears to be working. The glass breakage monitor, appears to be garbage, as I almost had to break one of my mom's cups in order to set off the warning alarm at full sensitivity. But I guess... since I almost had to break it... it might be working as intended. I checked the 4wd and thats still working fine...I guess I have to wait to get a flat tire to see if that system still works...and you definitely don't have to be a technician to install that alarm, but you do live with the fear that maybe you disabled an important system.

The only thing you would have to worry about is if there was a jumper wire from the back of the connector to that broken terminal and even that is easily fixable. Glad it all worked out and I'll bet that breaking safety glass makes more noise than one of your moms' cups!
