Oil Change Before Roadtrip?

I go about 15000 miles between my oil change, that old change oil every 5000 miles is just some bull caca.

No, they are new synthetics that can run at least to 50k miles, as long as you change the filters every 10-15k miles and sample the oil at the same intervals.

Oil gets dirty from ingesting dust (on dusty trails) and from blow-by at the rings. The higher the mileage, typically, the more blow-by. It is this dirt/blow-by that shortens the life of oil. Dino oil does start breaking down once it has come to operating temps. This is one major advantage to synthetics. This is especially important in low use vehicles that may take a year or two to get driven 5,000-10,000 miles.

A little exaggerated, but 20-25k for full synthetic oil, i use castro high mile so i usually just do 15k
