Gm 200k?

Im just amazed someone got 200k mi out of a GM. Id hate to see that vehicles lifetime of repair bills. But I understand that love for vehicles and some will pay anything to keep some.
My last GM (Cadi) was towed off at 104k miles.
I know my ex still has her 96 1500 and last yr when changing her oil I saw a $2800 repair bill for new steering pump / box, brakes and alot of frontend work at around 120k. Its goes in the shop at least 4-5 times a yr for repairs and she barrows my 91 Toy truck to get by. Her truck should be paid for twice by 200k miles.
I replaced all inside/out door handles a couple yrs ago as they all broke and she couldnt even get in/out. Autozone carries them on the shelf its so common on GMs. She loves that pretty P.O.Shhhhiiiit...lol :gun4:

I plan on using this oil for the Northern california weather.

After a significant amount of research I decided to run 5W-20 in my 4runner. I was towing with it and all. I put 7-8K miles on this oil and did that for several oil changes. No engine explosion. It's speculated that many dealers use this in place of 5W-30.

So to make a long thread even longer...you will be fine and perhaps better off.

PS- my lawnmower says only 30wt, but I throw anything and everything into it (10w, 5w-20, etc.) just whatever's laying around, and it keeps going, and going, and going, and going and hasn't blown up on me yet.

I'm a huge fan of running the spec'd fluids in a vehicle. My f-150 most always uses motor craft 5w-20. On a few occasions it got 10w-30 and 5w-30 and even Rotella. I have 320k miles on that engine. I think he will be fine for 3k running 5w-20.

On a side note: my mechanic absolutely insists and tries to convince me that I should run rotella in all my vehicles. Don't really know why.

The V8 takes 6.5 quarts. If you bought the 5 quart jug and a 1 quart bottle you're running a little low. I usually buy 7 quarts and dump in 6.5-6.75 quarts when chaining the oil and filter. It puts it right on the mark when warm. Check your dip stick to make sure you're ok.

I run rotella on almost all my vehicles. Dirtbike, Motorcycles. And 4runner.

Only my Acrua TL I used mobil 1, just because I always had it in there.

However Rotella recently went up in price. it use to be 12 bucks for a 4 quart jug of full synthetic. 9 bucks for regular (i run in my dirtbike)..

Now full syn is like 18-20 bucks for a 4 quart jug.

With coupons I got a 5 quart mobil 1 full syn for 22bucks.

My wife was at Target and I tols her to get 5 quarts of 5w20 for the acura, and 6 quarts of 5w30 for the 4runner.

She said they only had 5quarts left of the 30wt. For I just told her to get an extra quart of 5w20.

Im not an oil expert. but Im sure it will be just fine. Heck with full syn I change the oil in the runner every 10k. Its the only reason why I use full syn. Instead of changing it every 5k with regular. Unless you are running high compression or FI I think its a wast to change it every 5k.

Its a shame rotella went up in price.. I been using it way before the hype.
