Oil change light

Ok so I was just wondering since I didn't notice it until now. The MAINT light blinks a few times before stopping when I turn on the engine. Does that mean I need an oil change or when the MAINT stays lit? I have no clue because I just changed my oil and the MAINT light still blinks when I turn the car on.

reset oil change light

turn key on and set so the odometer is showing not trip a or b turn key off then hold the reset button and turn key back on hold for 3-4 seconds maintenance light will go off for about 7500 miles.

"The maintenance light is programmed to come on at about 7500 miles after last reset. It will actually start to stay on longer after starting at about 5000 miles after the last reset."

I have one more question to add onto this thread. Why is the MAINT light programmed to come on at 7500 miles if you're suppose to change oil every 3000 miles?

I dont think that is correct, the MAINT light will blink at 4500 miles since last reset, then stay on after 5000 miles. 5000 miles is the recommended change interval for the 4th gen 4R.

My 07 book and lights are just as nated05 stated.

I just went through this last week when switching over to Mobil 1, I had to reset the interval switch and I remember for certain it begins to blink at 4500 and stays on at 5000. Even though you can go longer intervals w/ the synthetic I still plan on staying on the Recommended intervals. At the cost of an oil change done yourself it's worth it to me.....

Nated05 is 100% correct. Both my 4th gens work this way.

3000 miles is a thing of the past. I can not think of one main stream car company that recommends 3000 miles. Only the quick lube places recommend that so they can get your $35 - $50 every 3000 miles.:bash: Porsche has some models they recommend 10000 mile oil change intervals with mobil 1, which is the factory fill.
