Oil Change vs Skid Plate

Forgive this newby question but tried to crawl under my 2006 Sport the other day and all I saw was skid plate. Can I assume correctly that somewhere under there one can access the oil drain plug w/o removing skid plates? Thanks.

Drain plug is under the plastic oval cover (that I lost a long time ago) in the skid plate. If you have the V8 though you will be taking off the skid plate to access the oil filter.
 
Thank you, sir. Fortunately, I have the V6 and I think I have spotted the oil filter on top of engine. My wife has a Lexus RX300 and I'm still looking for the filter on that one. I'll look for that plastic cover. Thanks again..
 
Be careful you don't drain the trans (it will cost alot), some members have.

Thanks for the tip, Koz. Finally found the oil filter on my wife's RX300. Believe it or not you have to take off two plastic plates, each with about 10 bolts on the Lexus to get to drain plug and filter. They really don't want you to change your own oil.
 
At least on the Lexus RX300 the oil pan plug looked different from the transmission pan plug. By the way, while my wife was away on business, I changed the oil and filter on the Lexus because she had been talking about it for weeks. Heretofore, I had always changed it on my car but never hers. Also installed new batterry while she was away. When she got back, I proudly said, "Honey, not only did I get you a new battery while you were gone, I also changed your oil and filter." At whch point she says, "Why did you do that? I had the dealer change the oil and filter 2 weeks ago." Talk about not being able to win for losing!
 
I'm sold!

I think I'm going to have to do this to my 2004 Limited now! And just for the fact of changing oil while crouched down instead of under the truck in the middle of the winter sold me!

Are there any Amsoil dealers on here that that are close to North Jersey that want to hook a forum member up with a deal on a BMK-13 kit with a couple filters and some 2000 oil?
