What do you guys think of running a 10w-30 full synth oil in the engine as opposed to the 5w-30?

Why not the synthetic 5W-30? You would be better running the 5W-30 in the colder weather anyway.

they didn't have any 5w-30 available. I went with the quaker state 4x4 full synth in 10w.

It will be fine, but take a look in your owners manual you will find a chart showing the SEA viscosity temp range. the 5W-30 just performs better in colder temps.

I agree, it should be better than 5 W 30 regualr oil. It should be easier to start than regular oil in the cold. I have also seen 0 W 30 in Mobil One, which I guess would be as thick as water. So there may be other choices next time you change your oil.
