When it comes time to sell the vehicle, esp. privately, there is nothing better than to hand the prospective buyer the maintenance book with all records showing oil changes as recommended by the mfgr. i.e. 5,000 mi. I think 7,500 using synthectic would be acceptable as well. It gives a bargaining edge.
