Oil Change

My 4R is due for oil change the second week of august. We are going for a road trip this coming friday July 24th ,to San Antonio TX ..like about 2,000 miles drive roundtrip ...if I am not mistaken.
Should I take the girl to the dealer to have it done before the trip or can I wait until we comeback?...we are coming back the 1st or 2nd of august.

If it's the Toyota OEM oil in your 4Runner since new, I would get it changed. Myself I do my own oil&filter changing so I got the OEM oil out around the first 1000 miles, and now use Mobil 1 5/30.

I'd get it changed before the trip. It's a very hot time of the year which works the oil hard.

What they said. It's been between 95-105 degrees down here for the last month with no letup in sight.

My rule of thumb on long trips is to not break the oil change interval while on the trip...keeping in mind you may encounter detours, may want to take a side trip, or end up stuck in traffic (be careful around Austin!).

Enjoy your trip!

Thanks guys for your advice...I called the dealership before I got home this evening and I am dropping the car tonight and it will be ready tomorrow at noon so I am piccking her up on my Lunch break...lucky me...they just told me that I have a FREE oil change ....just have to pay the tax..$1.75

What they said, with an addition.
Consider changing it yourself. The V6 T4R is by far the easiest oil change I've done on a vehicle in over 30 years of doing my own maintenance.

I agree I don't want my Dealerships bulk oil. It's a simple job and I am 71 and can git R done. Also I want to Mobil 1 not what is the cheapest.
