oil cooler....

so while i have the front diff out waiting to replace it, I have had an oil leak seeping from the oil cooler on the side of the block. NOT a single auto parts store i have here can get or has the seal for said part. after much deliberation I finally bought a universal oil cooler seal kit. Needless to say all the gaskets and seals were bogusly small... then I saw another one that had multiple o rings in it.
The stock seal has an inner flange type design that tucks under the tanges where it goes on the cooler. WOW the gasket from my oil filter of my chevy silverado LS motor is the sam frickin size, but much thicker... I used it.. cleaned her up bolted her back together .. started the engine and POURING oil from the cooler...lol... so needless to say I cant seem to get into toyota to buy the OEM seal cause they close at 4 and I get off at 4:30...duh....
What a pain in the ass it is working on my rig... I keep telling myself Im gonna sell it or kill it or cook it.. but she's still my baby...lmao....
has anyone just fabricated a plate to go over this oil cooler outlet and do away with the unit all together.. I mean it cant be doing much good where it is located on the block RIGHT next to the exh manifold... theyre kidding right?

ANYONE GOT A 4.30 TO TRADE FOR A 4.10 I PICKED UP BY DUMBNESS OR FOR SALE?

OIL COOLER IS STUPID IN POSITION AND DESIGN

Have you ever thought of buying the oil cooler o-ring from Toyota? That's the only place you can get it.:redbrick:

In his post he said he couldn't because it closes before he gets off from work.

But, he could try ordering one from an online dealer.

What about paying for the part and having them give the part to the sales manager who will be on shift so you can pick it up that way? Just a thought...

nah

I just took off early and went in... and of course they had to order it..lmao... but got it.. so went to AZ and picked up another intake plenum gasket. changed the seal on said idiotic oil cooler (on the block next to the exhaust collector,,, reallly???..lmfao) anyways, did valve cover gaskets too and changed PCV.
I've dealt with the vacuum nightmare a couple times so i have it down by heart now...lol... but
ran the baby for about 15 minutes .. turned her off... no drips...yaaaay... still oil cooler next to exhaust collector.. the hottest part of the engine... was it a monkey or was the designer intoxicated.. maybe opium and saki
