Same thing happened to me!

I called up the service manager and complained. He sent me a new one in the mail.

It's not worth it to replace the oil drain cover since you'll probably be replacing it for as long as you have your 4R. I change the oil myself and I always make sure that it is put back on properly, but I lost mine after 8 months. It must have came loose and fell off while driving. I didn't know it was missing until I did the next oil change.

Mine gone too. It doesn't attach very securely after taking it off the first time. Mine blew off, can't explain why it is missing any other way.

I broke one tab off the first time I did my oil change @ 1800 miles. I slapped it back on thinking it'll probably fall off. I changed my oil again at ~7000 miles since I put on a fram filter (crap from what everyone told me) and the cover was still there. Now that I have a genuine Toyota filter and Syntec 5w30 in there, I'm good until 17,000 miles :D.

Well, it finally happened to me. Don't know when I lost it but I am surprised how clean the area was. I guess I won't be replacing that too.

Change my oil last week and notice my was gone too..:wtf: so if anyone see a oval black looking thing on the road please let me know!

10K mile OCI? With the 4.7 V8 you might be ok if you were using Mobil 1 but your warranty will be history on any oil related problems with anything longer then a 5K mile OCI.

PS - Checkout what the guys on www.bobistheoilguy.com think about Castrol Syntec 5w30, they like the Castrol GTX 5w30 better then the Syntec. They love the imported Castrol Syntec 0w30.

I lost mine many moons ago. I want to get a proper skidplate anyhow. Everytime I go offroad with a 4RUnner they either have lost theirs or loose it on the trip.

I lost mine a couple of times. I finally made one out of metal and attached this with 2 short bolts. This works just fine. When I change oil, though, I always remove the skid plate so that I have access to other things that I want to check.

Why are you guys worried about some flimsy plastic cover? After the first oil change on my '03 I simply tossed the cover into my recycle bin, along with my V8 badge. :D

I agree with pitbull, read up on OIC with dino oil.. I run Amsoil at 10-15k intervals depending on what the oil analysis says.

For reading on amsoil click the link in my sig, Im a dealer , I can hook you up.
