Yep that's it. Make sure you get a new crush washer when you do it. Since the Toyota oil filters are pretty cheap I stick with those and grab a bunch along with washers every couple of months.

Anyone have a part number for the crush washer ?? I just did an oil change and noticed oil leaking from the drain plug. I did my oil change numerous times without replacing the crush washer on the drain plug with no issues until now.

You’re welcome. This is one product that is more than worth the cost. Coincidentally, I had a brainlock moment while changing my oil the other day and overfilled it by a quart (caught it on the dipstick check so no issue). Imagine trying to drain one quart with the OEM plug. The Fumoto made it a 30-second fix.

Also decided to further simplify my life and get a 6-quart oil pitcher so I can do my V6’s 5.5 quart fill in one unf***uppable step.

Mine is the short nipple b/c it just drains straight down into the pan. Long nipple is better if you want to attach tubing to it (though you can do that with the short one too). IIRC, they’ve introduced a new, higher flow version. If so, I would buy that one as one thing people gripe about is that it takes longer to drain your oil b/c the original has something like a 1/4” diameter.

I gladly trade a minute or two for the convenience and my experience is that it’s not a problem if the oil is warm and you crack the filler cap or partially unscrew the filter so you have a place for air to enter. (Anyone old enough to remember the oil cans where you had to use the can opener on both sides knows what I mean.)

I have the short one on one truck where I have easy access. On the truck with a skidplate, I have a long one with a hose extended down.

I have the short nipple even with my skidplate attached. While I see your rationale, I wanted to minimize the possibility of anything hitting the nipple. Probably not an issue on the pavement but an unfortunate rock encounter on a trail is always possible. The oil drains out of the bottom opening - what looks like a side opening is just part of the valve. Note the black clip, which is an option. The lever goes into a detent when closed so it really can't open accidentally but Fumoto is smart enough to collect a few extra bucks from those of us who are paranoid enough to buy the clip, which prevents the lever from moving until the clip is removed.

On a related note, there's a plastic OEM piece that's supposed to cover that opening in the skidplate. I bought one at the dealer years ago and it was gone within a couple of weeks. Don't know if something hit it or it just fell off but it doesn't attach very securely so that was a $17 lesson. This looks like it for $12 on eBay but I wouldn't waste your money.

I don't use the clip. I think I promptly lost the one that came with mine. I trust the lever with its detent. Now that I think about it, my original fumoto has no nipple at all. It's flat with just a hole.

Yeah, the lever isn’t going anywhere but the clip makes me feel better. LOL

I think so, the SX series. I only recall seeing something about faster flow somewhere, maybe in their newsletter, so I’m not up on the details.

Valvomax, Fumoto, either accomplishes the objective so get whichever one you prefer.
