Oil Filter Location

I'm going to change my oil in a few hundred miles, I've read the tuturial on how to change the oil, but I still don't know where the oil filter is, I've looked using the tutorial and I still can't seem to locate it. Anyone got better pictures?

This link shows two pictures of the oil filter. One from underneath and one from the drivers side wheel. I actually use both hands one from underneath and one through the flap by the wheel. I do not remove the skid plate, which makes it a bit harder to reach. When your underneath, on the drivers side, go up the side of the engine quite a bit, near the front and there it is. It is a pain in the ass to reach.

Its a pain in the ass. Ive done it, and next time i think imma take it to a place and have them do it.
 
Really now, tyhat kind of makes me want to take it a place. I'm sure I can do it, but if its that bad of a place to reach, I might as well take it down the block for a 10 minute oil change along with a free liquid check.

Don't give up so easily. Here is my write up on how I do it. I have seen worse, but mainly I have seen easier. If you have done it in other cars, you should be alright.

It is not easy. I bought a oil filter wrench that is a cap and it fits directly over the filter. The cap is attached to a 3/8" socket wrench. When I reach up to put it on the filter I get the other hand through the side and go through the flap. I squeeze my left hand through the side of the flap. Then with my left hand I unscrew the filter part way and then take it off the rest of the way with my right hand. A true pain in the ass.

I put the rig up on ramps and I do not remove the skid plates. Some oil falls on the skid plates and drains down the back side where I catch the oil in my oil catch pan. I then use some paper towels to clean the skid plate.

I have done it for over 70,000 miles and it really doesn't get easier with practice.

hey NV you can do it i did about three weeks ago... DO take off the skid plates and DO buy a filter wrench... makes your life so much easier...

I suggest you try it yourself, it might be easy for you, you never know.

Exactly what i said. To me it was a pain in the ass cuz of the filter location. But for him, it might be easy. I have big hands and its a pain for me to reach in the little hole and grip the filter. But im going to change it with a filter re-location kit.
 
Yah I think I might give it a shot, but then again, it is only like 10-15 extra for an oil change down at the place by my house.
