Oil Filter Used by Most?

I see all of the posts on synthetic vs regular oil and have a question:

Which filter is best to use on the V6 4R?

Are the filters different if you use synthetic?

What kind are you using and why?

Do you change it every time you change oil?

I'm trying to learn andtreat my new 4Runner as best I can. I've received some great lessons from others here and respect (most) opinions offered here. I've been to filter sites and Bobthe oilguy but can't find an answer about filters and which is best for my vehicle. Please comment/discuss.

I use the good ol toyota filters along w/ the good ol regular oil too btw. Changed every 3500 miles religiously so no worries what so ever. Don't plan on going to synthetic ever so blah. (can't afford that $$ oil!)

i use mobil 1 synthetic with the OEM toyota filter. i've heard nothing but good things about toyota filter, so i figured why not?

I went to this event for new car owners at the dealership; quite nice, they include dinner and let you speak to their master techs and parts dept. guys.. anyways, they said that it's best to use the toyota filter is best as the new toyotas use 60 pounds of pressure and other oil filters only provide 40 pounds of pressure, so the filter could blow..

so i'll be using toyota filters.. i don't see a reason not to anyways..

I use mobil1 fiters with mobil1 synthetic oil. I have also used K&n oil filters.

I've done more research on this subject than is probably healthy for me. But I did the research pertaining to my GS400.

I ended up concluding that the Toyota OEM filter was very different from, but roughly as good as the Mobil 1 filter. Both the Toyota OEM and Mobil 1 were the only two my reserach pointed toward as 'excellent' choices.

From what I saw, the Mobil 1 had a little bit higher quality construction and a little better bypass valve, but the OEM Toyota filter had a much more advanced synthetic organic filtering media, whereas the Mobil 1 used the same basic concept as most other filters on the market.

What sealed the deal was the fact that I could buy the Toyota filters wholesale for about 6 dollars each. The Mobil 1 filters were selling in-town for 12 bucks + tax, and I couldn't find them on the internet for any cheaper, really.

So I've used Mobil 1 synthetic oil with the Nippon/Denso Toyota OEM filter, and so far have had beautiful results. Then again I only have 61,000 miles on my car to date.

As an addition to my previous post, I'd like to state that recently Toyota moved the production of their OEM filters for the 1UZ-FE and 3UZ-FE V8 motors in their cars from Japan to South Korea, and at the same time, cut back on the materials cost for the filters by designing a filter 90% similar to the old one, but removing some of the filtering media (fewer pleats), and cheapening the spring mechanism on the bypass valve.

The end result was a filter that was probably much cheaper for Toyota to produce. They did pass some of the savings on to the consumer, but I'm just mad that they didn't at least give us an option by producing both types of filters in both locations or at least in the new plant in south korea.

A bunch of us saw this coming and ordered a whole case load of filters from Carson Toyota in California (Steve Ganz from that dealership saw the change coming as well and ordered a whole bunch of them for said purpose).

My question to you all is, i-Force V8 see a similar change about 8 months ago? Did the part number for the filter change recently? Where does it say the filter is made when you look on the box or the filter itself?

If they downgraded the quality of the 4Runner V8's filter as well, I'd like to stock up before they're sold out of the better kind.
