Oil / Filter - Which?

I have a 2000 4Runner Limited with 260,000 km on her, and still going strong.

My question is which oil/filter combo are you using on your 4Runner?

I am using Mobil 1 5w-30 year round, and the stock Toyota filter. I do a change every 8000km, (5000 miles), of both the oil and filter.

-does Fram make toyota oil filters?

-does anyone use Wix or Purolator, what do you recommend?

Let me know what you use, I have a feeling there's a better option for me than the Toyota stock filter!

Thanks!

i use bosch, but only bosch filters cause bosch other stuff like plugs and stuff suck in japanese engines. bosch is slightly better than fram, my brother worked at a parts store and they disected a few brands to see the best. idk how it compares to a toyota one tho

Thanks for the replies ... I checked my local Napa and they do carry those 1516MP Gold's. That's great, because I can't find Purolator or Wix filters here in Canada!

And they will fit the 3.4 V6 correct?

What about oil choice, anyone else using synthetics?

just changed my oil today and used a Purolator PureOne. i hear good things about them... plus they are not too expensive. It was around $6

15w50??? I can understand the 15w, as your in hawaii and probably never have to worry about the cold. But 50?? please help me understand..

I ONLY use OEM TOYOTA filters

as for the oil, I use 4.5 quarts of Mobil 1 10w-30 and a quart of Lucas Oil Stabilizer

I run the same oil in my 911 turbos so I figure it must be okay for the T4R. With the added stress from the sc, I don't want my oil to get too thin.

the WIX, NAPA, and Carquest are the same filter, and are all good, if you cannot easily get a Toyota filter. Stay away from FRAM.

I wouldn't use the oil stabilizer, a good quality oil is fine, and change regularly.
