oil gauge help please

when i start the truck it is ok but when i start drivin the oil gauge starts goin all over the dash an finally goes to empty but when i took the dipstick out it was full an the check engine light comes on

Could be the oil pump, or the sending unit for the gauge.

What engine is it?

If the CEL comes on, have you checked to see if any codes have been stored in the ECM?

The oil gauge is an oil pressure gauge. Doesnt have anything to do with oil level. Thats what the dipstick is for. So yeah, as posted above, its gotta be something to do with the oil pressure (oil pump) or the sending unit for the gauge is buggered.

its the 3.0 v6 an i havent checked the codes yet
